about 1.5-2 years ago, I bought a Specialized Roubaix Elite. I would start riding, and be pretty steady for a few weeks, but then something would come up, and it might be a few months before I would get going again. This happened repeatedly.
This season has been different: I've been riding very regularly (weather permitting) since February, maybe 70+ miles/week. Not much by most peoples standards, but a lot for me. I've been really enjoying it.
Anyway, last week, I crashed my bike by taking a turn to fast, and locking up the brakes. I destroyed my rear rim - a Mavic CXP22, that came with the bike. The wheels were built w Specialized OEM hubs, so I decided it wasn't worth rebuilding the wheel with a new rim.
I ordered these:https://www.neuvationcycling.com/product88.html , front and rear Neuvation R28 Aero 3 - $275 delivered, with inner tubes.
seemed like a pretty good deal, and now I'll have a spare front wheel in case I crash again...
Can't wait for them to arrive. I'm riding my mtn bike till they get here.

^Some places have a price guarantee . . . that happened to me when I ordered a saddle through Nashbar; I emailed them and they refunded me the $10 difference.

Got a pair of Look KEO Sprints and new bar tape on the way. I'll have to get new shoes once the pedals arrive as I'm switching from SPD's.

My most recent cycling-related purchase was a one-day racing license this past Sunday because I left my current license at home. (why I took it out of the car in the first place is beyond me)
My most recent *intended* purchases were Deda Zero 100 handlebars & white Cinelli cork bar tape about a week and a half ago.

Eggbeater SL pedals.
Shimano M160 MTB shoes.
2006 Specialized S-Works MTB. It was a guy's parts bike, but I got a decent deal. I'm gonna turn it into a race bike piece by piece. It has XTR RD and Crankset, Thomson seatpost and stem, and Specialized Toupe TI saddle. The brakes are nice Avid V-brakes, and the brake levers are nice Avid as well. The shifters are SRAM Attack gripshifts, with a cheap SRAM Xgen FD. He also threw a cheap Rock Shox Dart3 fork and Mavic Crossride wheelset on it.
Eventually I'll upgrade the shifters to XTR triggers, the FD to XTR, the wheelset to something nice, and put a nicer fork on it.

Friday: Wald Rear Baskets
the frackin' baskets don't fit! Not a word on the REI or Wald websites about measurements of the baskets' mounting hardware!! They don't even come close to attaching to my 1995 Cannondale M500. Sigh... but REI has issued an RMA and paid for return shipping via UPS.
The Search... continues!
