Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The Descente Cold Out hat is quite nice, and will cover your ears/neck really well.

Can't pull the trigger on an Edge 800 yet, but to complement my 705, I picked up an Edge 500 for $150 locally...too hot of a deal to pass up. Really wanted the HR based calorie algorithms for some winter woodshed training.

I'll grab an 800 once they are done beta testing the unit.

my wonderful wife got me an edge 500 (which i love). and i finally bit the bullet on a pair of cycling shorts. i have only been cycling for a few months - since about midsummer - and never got or even felt the need for specialty cycling shorts. but now, as my mileage increase, the need has become apparent. 40+ miles with spandex leggings and cutoff jeans just is not cutting it.
