Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wore this for the first time this evening; Louis Garneau Olympus helmet - way better ventilated than my black Bell department store helmet. The new one shipped without the visor, but the company put one in the mail for me this afternoon... sure, it's not a Volt or an Ionos, but it will do for my 12 - 30 milers.

Well...Custom Shop Jawbones to replace the ones that were lifted from my car...

Matte White/Dark Grey w/Fire Vented and VR28 Blue Iridium Vented

And then these because well, they are BadA$$. Limited edition Echelon Jawbones...they include Ruby Iridium VR50 Transition Lenses...it's the lense exclusivity that made me do it...the carbon look and jaws are both matte finish in real life, no idea why they appear to have a sheen in the image from oakley

Yesterday was an almost $300 day on stuff.... At my LBS, 2 Kenda Kwest tires and tubes for sons bike, patch kit, Chamoise Glide, 2 insulated water bottles for the wife. Performance Online, Elite bibs, 3 jerseys for me, 1 jersey and 1 light jacket for her, headband and arm warmers...And from Amazon wife got PI Sugar Knickers..

Next up for my birthday present (the 17th), some tights for cold weather riding.. still trying to decide what I want.

Finally went clipless after rocking the platforms for 3k miles. Got 'em both at a great price (nearly 60% off).

since it's getting darker earlier...

And a pair of the Performance brand Ultra II bibs. Holy crap, why did I not buy these things earlier? They're on sale for $60 right now, so I may grab another pair.

Nothing is going to make me fast, the goal is simply less pathetic.

Amazing what a little crazy glue gel in the right place would do. It is fixed, at least for now!

I'll say one thing about this Ionos helmet: it is huge compared to the same size L in the Atmos model. It is also heavier by 50+ grm in addition to the weight of the ContourHD that is attached to the helmet now. It looks at least one entire size bigger. It fits my head and the strapping mechanism works great to make it fit and feel well once adjusted. However, the shell is huge. That I don't like one bit!! Oh the joys of living in the black hole of LBS that don't carry a freaking thing you use, want to try, or like!!
