Total cost as pictured: just under $3000, taxes in.

LBS or private party?

Very pretty bike. Too bad it wasn't a road frame. I'd love to see it with road calipers and all vintage Campagnolo parts in silver.

I have a Kirk Frameworks sitting in queue for paint with Joe Bell, the original idea was to do a pearl white w/ dark green combo paint w/ silver Athena. Then I considered green w/ white, now I've settled on a medium blue metallic w/ white. Still wanted a green bike, so that's where this little project came in. However, after I get it all assembled, who knows, I may go back to a green for the Kirk also!

This should come in handy for the next couple of months.

Not going to be a massive reduction in weight about 150-200g.

Next: Replace the derailleurs. Thinking of a Dura-Ace 3 Piece upgrade kit.

LBS, with the $1000 off deal from $2800. The wheels are 88mm Gigantex tubulars from eBay costing $700. Vittoria Corsa Evo CX tires, red Hudz, Elite cages, Exustar pedals add less than $200.

Holy ghost pages batman!

Anyway...I couldn't pass up this Bonktown deal. Giro Prolight:

$86 including shipping. Ordered a Large. First fitting I thought "uh-oh"...then adjusted the strap placements in the helmet, put on my Halo doo-rag and was able to get a nice fit.

I bought Sora road shifters, road bars, and converted my hybrid flat-bar bike to a backup road bike.

Have you used it before? If not, use it sparingly the first time. It will continue to "warm" you for 12+ hours, and do a search online on how to remove it, without it um...burning.

I do use it, a little goes a long way.

pelotonracer 01-13-12 12:38 AM

Also picked up a 56cm R3 Rival this week with the deal - 15 lbs as pictured

I guess it depends on the person. It's not nearly that strong for me. I really wish it was. I can't even feel the mellow until I wash it off. The medium barely so.

This will be my first time with it. I have used body glide but never an embrocation cream. Thanks for the suggestion on removing it, I'll do a search.

Today I bought and tested a new road saddle, Avenir 100 series. It is a lot more plush than the stock caad10 kappas pro saddle and the first 24 miles on it was good.

Bolded for emphasis. I have the Russian Tea and love it, but it takes a little getting used to, and be warned that hopping into a hot shower after a ride will reactivate/boost the heat.

How'd you get the black lettering on the downtube?

I took a black permanent Sharpie, hours worth of work but worth it.

Pinkbullet3 01-14-12 10:14 PM

Ah. Looks good. It'd be funny if I did the same with my CAAD10 5 (black), ha

lezyne super drive, 450 lumins $99, actually got it for $79 with a Halloween 20% off sale. I've had this a few months. With the short days I get caught out after dark on all my rides. Very small and very bright. Did better than the higher rated and priced lights over at mtbr.com
