Interesting, how much of a strain is it to pump a presta tire to 110 psi?

First ride yesterday and it's really not too noticeable... gets kinda thick with the iPhone in it though..so a tight squeeze in my jersey pocket, but does lay pretty flat on the back.

I'm still debating this. Some of my jersey's are rather tight, I wonder how well it would fit in those.

I'm also wondering how easy it would be to run earbuds into the phone.

It would not be the tightness of the jersey itself... but rather the size of the pocket on the jersey. I don't wear headphones on the bike.. so no comment on that... smaller phone might not be an issue.

Doggone it. I just purchased the leather zipper wallet. Looks really nice and made in US! The reviews on the Waterfield Designs products are positive. I've been using the same wallet for 30 years, so if this one is half as good, I'll be happy.

I try not to carry objects in my jersey that would impale me or damage my backbone should I fall. I prefer saddle bag.

spdntrxi 03-29-15 07:18 PM

^ I've had a WF laptop bag for years... yes they are really good stuff. The pouch is pretty solid as well... I don't think you have to worry about getting impaled by anything in it. It's nice to look at my bike sans saddlebag for a change.... I'm liking it so far.. Will have to see when it really get hot out here.. only 80 right now. Im doing a century soon.. so that will be the real long test.

I bought some cheap michelin tires 23c for the road bike because the last tires had a half inch slice in it.

A chain for the GF's '75 Paramount-the last piece to make a rider. And a Steelman Stage Race frame and fork....like I need another project.

A couple of weeks ago I decided to get a new front tire. Ordered a Kenda 830 with K-Shield - 700 x 35c, and put it on. I took a look at the bike, admiring the new tire, and decided it now needed a matching rear tire. So I ordered another one (but without the K-Shield this time) for the rear. While admiring the tires I noticed the rim was just a tad out of round. So I go online-shopping for a new wheel, and then I remember that my cassette is very old and wobbles a little on the freehub. Might as well get a complete assembly, right?

Just got it all back on the road yesterday.

But now I'm thinking about pulling the rear end off tomorrow, adjusting the bearing cone tension, and adding extra grease. (Didn't have the cone wrench or grease yesterday.)

The moral of the story? Beware that little purchase that you believe you can easily afford. It can start something.

My Waterfield Cycling Pouch arrived yesterday and I emptied my saddle bag into it. For the most part, everything fit including spare tube, 2 tire levers, 2 CO2 cartridges, CO2 nozzle, multitool, and iphone 6. I need to get some rubber bands to put around the spare tube but all in all, works great. Not too thick although I do notice it a bit when I dismount at intersections as it might bump the saddle a little. I'm sure I could get it thinner if I work at it a bit.

I don't normally like to yak about what I purchased but since I yak so much about finding my best deals on bike parts on the internet and rarely buy anything at my LBS due to high prices something quite odd happened today. I walk into my LBS to buy a tube, they reduced their tube prices from $15 to $7? and added a free tube if you bought 3, so I got 4 tubes. Then at the counter they had a two for one promotional sale on Specialized tires? Specialized? They never go on sale, so I got two Roubaix Pro 23/25 tires for the equivalent of $20 each plus tax and those retail for $40 and Specialized uses fixed pricing. I haven't found decent tires under $30 bucks for awhile and then to find them at an LBS??

Makes me wonder if Specialized is doing that nationwide at all their contracted LBS's, any of you wanting tires may want to find out. Along with the Roubaix Pro they also had the S Works Turbo, the Turbo Pro (which both wear very fast, but their racing tires), and the All Condition Armadillo Elite.

CafeVelo 04-02-15 05:35 PM

^They are. Specialized is rolling out a new racing tire and has all on sale in efforts to convert people to them.
