Finally decided to switch to Speedplay Zero's and got me some used ones off ebay.

Picked up a pair of Giro LTZ II gloves in mono white, as I've recently discovered that my old (padded) gloves make for some pretty brutal hotspots on my palms after about mile 72.

Nice. I've been admiring the Niners a lot recently.

Is this the end result of your "fast gravel" thread?

Aftershokz Bluez 2S Wireless Bone Conduction Bluetooth Headphones, Neon Green, (AS500SN), haven's used yet but will post my thoughts in the adv/safety subforum as that seems to be the wildest thread on headphones or not :)

I'm basically doing their $8800 RLT 9 RDO "5 Star" build for about 40% less.

Mine will have American Classic mountain bike wheels instead of Enve wheels.

Piecing it together will allow me to do minor changes to suit my own needs - stem length, different saddle and bar tape, maybe custom Di2 wiring, etc.

Everything is ordered except the drivetrain and Di2 parts. I have lots of boxes in my closet right now.

Yes. That thread was so helpful to me.

It isn't a Cervelo R5 or Specialized Venge but is one of the more aggressive gravel specific bikes out there.

Made a bunch of changes on the bike over the winter. Picked up a saddle, (Ergon SR3), stem (FSA Energy), bars (Zipp Service Course 80), tape (Cinelli), pedals (Shimano 105), and shoes (Giro Empire ACC).

Still looking for a road helmet (my POC Tectal may look a bit funky on the road... like the look and fit of the MET Rivale), tires (something tubular, 25mm) and cranks (not sure yet)

$39, $89 sale @ NewEgg, $50 back with AMEX purchase.

I'm curious about these Road Prizm, hopefully they do improve vision as I wear glasses now just for wind, polarized don't do that much to me. Maybe contrast will.

A2 Novatec 10/11sp hub w/ ABG for my wheelset with shot freehub body bearings, and spline damage from the cassette cogs. This thing went from Taiwan to Memphis in just 24 1/2 hours, with just the $10 regular FedEx shipping. Wow!

Bought a Stages PM from a teammate a few weeks ago in 175mm. I had been meaning to switch from 172.5mm, so I bought a Rival22 crankset from Ribble (spent <$100) in 175mm. Should get here any day.

It's REI dividend day so hit their clearance sale and picked up a few things.

Freshening up my CX bike (it's a white and red specialized S-works CX approaching "vintage" age)

Attachment 556129

Attachment 556130

A few things so I don't look like such a roadie on my MTB rides

Attachment 556131

Attachment 556132

Replacement front wheel for the commuter and a pump for the office

Attachment 556133

Attachment 556134

Insulated camelback bottle for $7. Who cares about the color at that price?

Attachment 556135

Also picked up some cabling kits on clearance at $7/each

hire rather than purchase: I went on holiday to Guam where, at the "Convenience Store Osaka" there are mountain bikes for hire but they have short raised stems, so I took a 14cm step and horns and timtakked the bike at the beginning of the hire and kamitted it before I gave it back.

I wish I could buy a four nut 7 speed chain ring with more than 44 teeth for more speed downhill and flats, but even that seems like a lot.

My pads aren't even fully bedded, and I'm already liking the hydro braking much more than the mechanical that it replaced. Good stuff.

MidTNBrad 03-16-17 08:21 AM

BBinfinite bottom bracket for my BBRight. I'm looking forward to a creak free season!

biketampa 03-18-17 06:18 PM

Castelli perfetto convertible jacket. Wore it today for first time. Was great. Warmed up. Took off sleeves. Worked great

GeneO 03-18-17 08:47 PM

Had a Garmin lefty but needed a righty because of my tight cabling (light mount would only fit on left). I do like the way it sits below the level of the bars. Still don't like the way the hydraulic cables are rubbing against the mounts.

Yet another BSO - of sorts:

http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w...pslru10sm1.jpg

This is a Hummer-branded Kent Shogun Terra that I bought used from an Egyptian dude who claimed that he had used it only twice (of course, he was lying through his teeth; the cheap-ass, off-off-brand Chinese rear tire was almost bald.) First order of business: Replaced those tires with the pair of Bontrager Solanas I had lying around, which were a huge improvement. The main frame triangle is aluminum; the suspended rear triangle is steel. The Shimano Tourney groupset works as well as one might expect from Shimano's bottom-rung components; the derailleurs shift crisply and readily. The suspension fork is a POS; there's slight play in the legs, which causes them to tilt backwards upon braking. The brakes themselves, however, work stunningly well (but this is by no means a bike that's capable of anything resembling speed; it's just for leisurely neighborhood strolls and - probably - some basic urban exploration, and nothing more.)

In other news...

Bought this fender set for the Speed D8:

Surprisingly good quality for the $9.99 I paid for them on Amazon, but they took ages to get here! In fact, Amazon still shows them as "on the way," even though they've been on the bike for 10 days now :D

Got some other goodies, too:
