Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It normally picks up cars at about 300yds, going over a rise or around a sharp corner, you definitely lose range (LoS).
If it it detects a car, I don't even bother looking back, I assume there's a car. If it doesn't detect a car, then I'll look back before changing lanes. Looking before changing lanes is just common sense though.

It doesn't work well in high traffic areas, since there's always a car behind, and it can't differentiate between lanes. But then again, if it's a high traffic area, it's safe to assume there's always a car behind you and act accordingly.

Took advantage of that Performance Bike Sale. Nabbed new shoes. R5B. Pretty decent upgrade from my current shoes. They're no S-Phyres, but they should serve me well.

Also picked up a few Ultegra 6800 upgrade for my 105 bike while they're on closeout. Upgraded almost the entire group for a couple hundred $! woohoo!

Where I live, I assume there is always motor vehicle approaching (because that's normally the case).

Took advantage of the discount from Beeline Bikes that show up at work once a month for a bike tune up. Got new chain and cassette and put off the new chain rings until next tune up. I supplied the matching color Cannondale green bar tape and they recommended replacing the shift cables and housing since they would be unwrapping the bars. Since the bike as 12.5k miles on it I went with that. With the discounts I think I got a bargain at $219. My drive train is oh so silent now and shifts like a dream. Happy with the service and advice. Today I hit the REI for a bottle of T-9 for chain lube. Very happy and looking forward to my metric century tomorrow.

Got two from Western Bike Works, 159 each. Pretty good deal. My wife and I love them, great safety assistant.

The one I use for bike and chain cleaning.

Cheaper by $5+ compared to getting it by the gallon.

You clean your bike and chain with that?
I just use it on my chain, but it tarnishes them a bit.

I've been wanting to upgrade my current 10 speed Ultegra 6770 di2 to 11 speed with an internal battery for quite some time and finally started the process. I picked up the new bar end junction box, internal bluetooth enabled battery, new inline bluetooth adapter, internal battery charger, di2 seatpost mount, and all the etube wires to make it happen. I also just received the new Ultegra R8000 brake calipers which look pretty beefy compared to the older 6700's. Can't wait to get everything installed later this week.

I've been using it for several years now. For bike cleaning, I use dilluted with water (1 is to 10 approx) and dish detergent. For chains, I use full strength with the parktool chain cleaner scrubber, then rinse with water there after. If I take the chains off, I soak full strength with dish detergent and scrub the chain with a chain brush (finish line grunge brush). Then rinse and dry. You should not soak the chains a long time (like several hours). I have not noticed any tarnishing. Smells good too!

4 bikes shops later

Took my wife for a date afternoon and we went to 4 bike shops. 2 local guys, one was trek store and was performance bike. I was looking for new mountain bike/ commuting shoes. I use MTB shoes for commuting and they work for me. I also got new water bottles 2x and chcb jacket for the winter. I ended up buying it all for about he price of the shoes with Performance bikes 20% off. We wanted to get them from local shoes but they did not have much selection or any.
I also test rode a trek super commuter e- bike. It would go 20mph. It was pretty cool… sorta.

I got her a kona mocha from Sheetz. She was happy.

Next date will be all about her interests haha

Where's the "too much to list" emoji? Just set up my girlfriend on a proper road bike. Before July she hadn't ridden a bike more than a couple of miles. Yesterday we did 28...her longest ride yet. So in the last week i've bought: Specialized Ruby Elite, Specialized Comp MTB shoes (better for walking that road shoes), Specialized Prevail Helmet, Garmin Edge 25 computer, 3 pair of Pearl Izumi shorts, 2 Pearl Izumi jerseys and this kit from DZ Nuts:

She loves the DZ Nuts kit and can't wait to wear it (should be sitting in my mailbox as I post this).
