Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

MMM....

November's confirmed parts list:

Shelby traveler rack
2, maybe 3 speedometers (Stewart-Warner Cadet, 50s Schwinn, maybe a Huffy)
2, possibly 3 speedometers going for service and rebuilding/cleanup
2 classic bike print t-shirts.
1 set of temporary pedals for the Red Hornet until I get some AS pedals

More time before winter comes early.

The repairs to my Roland TR-808 drum machine don't count unless I will program parts of Kraftwerk.

Performance Elite Lycra Cycling Shorts.

Performance Ultra Cycling Jersey. This a tough one. It is really snug, it will look okay once the last of the belly fat is gone...almost there.

Now I can cycle between this and my $34 Amazon cycling jersey and shorts kit. Kind of pain to have one clean and dry for the next ride with one set.

New tires for my steel single speed coming tomorrow: Continental Ride Tour, 700x28.

We'll see how these do on wet/dirty roads and light snow. GP4000S2 and GP4S are probably better, but I couldn't cough up the $$ for a bike that doesn't get a ton of miles.

I'd be interested in your feedback on that saddle. I've currently got a Specialized Phenom Expert and it seems fine for a stock sadddle, but I've rarely kept a stock saddle on a bike for more than a few weeks.

It's night and day compared to the Toupe Sport that came with my bike. I only put 20 miles on it but I'm happy. I would ask the LBS if they would let you test it out.

Wahoo speed and cadence sensor bundle, a pair of bearings for my Easton wheels, an ANT+ dongle for my HRM to talk to my computer and phone, a new Campy 13-26 Veloce 10sp cassette, a Record chain, 2 Troy Lee 3/4 sleeve and 1 Dakine MTB jerseys. And I'm finally going to use my Campy cable set that I've had for about 4 years, and new handlebar tape. Also a new Deda seatpost that I had to return because it was the wrong size. Also a fourth MTB jersey that wouldn't fit over my head that I returned. A subscription to The Sufferfest training program to use all that connectivity. I'll probably also check out Zwift since that seems to be the latest thing. I'm already using RidewithGPS as my road tracker.

I've been on a bit of a buying spree for my bike when I hadn't bought anything new in years. All this because I've already lost 15 pounds from riding hard and often in less than 2 months time, and I want to keep at it.

Just got gear delivered from Spesh and Nashbar for my first fall/winter road cycling seasons. Seems after this weekend in the NE the warm mornings and nights are done for.

Add to that some rally cool VW Bug and Bus club t-shirts for that OT awesome touch...I'll wear shirts with Kombis on my bike anytime.

I bought this saddle a couple months ago. I've put a few hundred miles on it so far and dare I say it? I "like" this saddle... definitely my favorite.
