Your Most Recent Cycling-related Purchase

Curious about how you like these and how they fit when they arrive.

All in all, I liked it.
Newbie
My most recent cycling-related purchase was....a bike! Been riding a 2013 Trek Dual Sport hybrid off and on since '13. Getting more seriously into cycling and I decided it was time to buy a proper road bike. Made the choice to go carbon, then (too) little effort to upsell resulted in me ordering and last Friday taking delivery of a 2018 Trek Domane SL8. This bike is stupid light, stupid fast, and admittedly, stupid expensive. But I love it! Can't post any pictures because I don't have a high enough post count yet.

New set of Gatorskin tires...because I rode the heck out of this set. 2200 miles, and the cord is coming through

To make a long story short, I lost the O-ring of my speedplay so I went to HomeDepot to get a replacement. It was not a perfect fit but I was able to use it for a few rides until it kindda bubbled out.
After some research on the O-ring size needed, I bought these from Amazon.

Exactly what I needed.
Also got one of this. Great tool to inject the pedals with grease (never going back to a syringe).

Some stuff winds up being returned. If the Giro cap doesn't cover my ears then it is going back.

I'm hoping it covers my ears and stays in place. Last year during the 5 week long period which Georgians by birth like to call "Winter" I used a Smartwool PhD beanie, really nice but it crept up and my ear lobes froze. If the Giro cap doesn't cover my ears it will go back and I'll get a space helmet looking Assos fuguCap_S7 thingamajig.
Really digging the euro-retro look of the wool mutt though. The sublime old school way is to wear it backwards post ride.
LMK if you pick yours up and what you think.

I'm on a self-imposed prohibition against posting about contentious topics but who can argue with merino wool?

I'm a merino advocate - no worries there. I, too, have a Smartwool beanie and yeah, it doesn't get used in freezing weather because of the lack of ear coverage, so that plus the bill are what piqued my interest. The only problem is that I have a big ******* head, but the Giro Peloton caps fit (and are a favorite), so I'm hopeful.
The Giro Ambient however, is a keeper. The fit is tighter and is a heavier weight fabric with wind block on the front. It covers my ears and the visor is really small. Not merino and nowhere near as stylish though.

I wear that for at least 1/2 the year- think it's great.
Breathable, not thick, & the best is that you can cover/uncover the ears on the fly for temperature regulation.
The short brim is good in the rain, but blocks vision a bit if you have a low position.

Just bought the black bibs plus and a jersey from theblackbibs.com. Was $65 for the bib and $45 for the jersey (or $110 for both). Good price. Will see how the quality is when I get them and try them out.

These arrived today, haven't ridden with them but tried them on and they fit really well and are comfortable/stiff. I was worried about size, I'm a 9 or 9.5 US in street shoes so wasn't sure what size to order considering foot swell while riding but somewhat negated by thin cycling socks. I went for the size 43 (US 9.5) and was glad I did, they are perfect. I don't find them too narrow, but my feet are pretty normal width, maybe a tad narrow.
Really happy with them and they look great.
