I probably went the other way by ordering a pair of Ultegra 6800 QR skewers to replace the cheap ones included with my new wheels. At least heavier skewers do not increase rotational weight.

New shoes
Bought a pair of Sidi wire-2’s in the new matte grey. Nice shoe, but I wish there was a leather option as opposed to synthetic.
Also changed my old tires for some new Conti’s. 2 for 1 sale at Comp Cyclist. Great service btw..

I bought this...2000 Trek 2200 Alpha SL

Going to strip it down to the frame and rebuild it either for Road riding or a Gravel bike, I haven't decided yet.

I'm always buying stuff for my bikes; I just don't post it all here, but I decided to post about a set of tires I bought for my touring bike.
My Masi Giramondo 700c came with Kenda Drumin 700x45c tires, they were heavy at 950 grams each, didn't ride well, and I had to jack the psi up to the max to keep the front tire sidewall from flexing and wobbling the bike when under load, they were not good at preventing flats, and wore out in less than 1,500 miles. I bought a pair of Schwalbe Almotion tires, I bought one Microskin TLE Raceguard which I put on the rear wheel and the other with Vguard which is a bit lighter, so now my tires weigh 1,110 grams total instead of 1,900 grams, I then ordered a pair of Conti 700x25-32c race tubes to cut the weight of the chunky Kenda tubes, and installed a set of RhinoDillo tire liners which are far better than standard Mr Tuffy and lighter.
The other day I took the bike on a short 8 mile ride loaded to see what I might notice. What I noticed was the ride quality of the bike is now like riding on a balloon, it's so smooth it's weirdly smooth! I also noticed that it now coasts further, and it takes less effort to pedal the bike. I have never experienced such a dramatic difference in tires before. And the other weird thing is that this smoother ride is on 38c tires vs 45c tires! I would have thought, and was expecting, that since the new tires were narrower the bike would ride a bit harsher due to the higher psi I have to put in, not so! Anyway, I'm loving these new tires, now I just have to find out how long they will last, and what sort of flats will I get, I doubt I will get any in the tire's life time.

Yeah after thinking about my statement yeah I agree, returning it to it's Road riding glory will be the goal. These things are very light and I am glad to have gotten my hands on one.

A 90's wildly flouro tig welded Columbus Max Somec, I'm off to collect it today. I'll need to change a few things to get it exactly to my liking, but its pretty much my holy grail bike, so to say I'm excited is an understatement
Will report back later with pics.

Coincidentally, the sci guy and I have each recently acquired a Cannondale CAAD4 from the same era to do the same thing.

I'm always buying little bits and bobs, but one thing that I've somehow never invested in was a rain jacket. Either decided not to ride, or more often than not, head out and knowingly get soaked.
Triggered by a recent spate of moist evenings (but not downpours) here in Tokyo and the soon approaching rainy season I bought a lightweight rain jacket from Decathlon.

Also bought a cheap side entry water bottle cage for the seat tube as I'm getting tired of my 'dog peeing' stance I assume every time I want to use that bottle.

I went way over budget, I've got a pair of campagnolo Zonda wheels (second hand, as-new), a Shimano free body, and a pair of continental gatorskin tyres for my next bike.. and orange handlebar tape.. oooh boy.
