GP5000 TLR 25mm on last Saturday ride from a shop I was very happy to find along the way.

Wife avoided one stone but hit the next one and cut sidewall about 1/4" if not more. Sealant tried to glue and it did hold for a bit, but after 10km when we rolled through town, it went flat again. We still had 40km to ride so decided to get a replacement tire. Very thankful to bump into that shop and did not complain about the cost of it all at all.

I feel pretty stupid but when I changed my bike I went from a 420 handlebar to a 480 one and I found it to be an unpleasant switch. My bike bike guy says 480 is more my size, but I'm used to 420 (no pot jokes lol) so even though I just bought a new pair of handlebars like a week ago I've ordered a THIRD pair, and a shorter stem (13 down to 12), oh boy.

I'm also annoyed because I went by dimensions, not brand, and I'm replacing ITM handlebars with something called "g-force" which these days at least seems to only sell folding bikes.

If anyone knows about g-force's pedigree I'd love to know

The stem is "ttt", Cinelli meets colnago? Or campagnolo... I forget what my mechanic told me but he was excited about the stem.

(Can't use the og handlebars I like so much because there 31.8 but my new bike is vintage)

Yesterday was new bike day x2 for me.

First time ever that I've bought two in one day, hopefully it won't be the last!

The first is a Specialized Hardrock with a sweet old paint job that reminds me of Miami Vice. My boss had been asking me about a bike for his wife for awhile, so when this one popped up on Craigslist for $50, I jumped on it. Drove out to the suburbs around 11 AM and met a nice old white-haired guy named Mark at a storage facility. He and his wife had ridden a few of them over the years and loved them. He was just getting rid of some old stock, so it was a win for both of us.

I've ordered new rubber, pedals, cassette, chain, brake pads and cables/housing, so it shouldn't be much work. The shifting was dialed on the test ride, so that's a bonus.

For a multiple-decade-old bike, it doesn't look horrible. Here's a pic from yesterday after bringing her home:





The second bike is a Serotta Club Special track bike. I had been eyeing this frame on Craigslist for about a month before I reached out to the seller. His asking price for the complete bike (full DA components, Miche hubs to Velocity rims) was completely out of my price range. We went back and forth for a while, I tried to offer some trades to ease the price, and he stopped responding. I figured I'd missed the boat, but the listing stayed up on Craigslist, FB Marketplace and OfferUp.

Finally, he reached out to me after seven days and agreed on an extremely reasonable all cash offer on the frameset. I offered another hundred dollars for the cranks and BB, and he generously included the entire bike, minus the wheelset. The timing worked out after picking up the Hardrock, and I was able to drive to his house at 6 and pick up the bike. Thankfully nobody got murdered or robbed, I'm always a bit nervous dealing with Craigslist, let alone two strangers in one day. I'm sure the seller felt the same way inviting me to his house!

The story I got from the seller is that the bike was built during the 80s in NY for an alleged Olympian who used the bike for training. The bike was then sold to a firefighter who moved to Chicago, who sold it to the Craigslist seller who sold it to me. All hearsay, but I consider this the first collectible bike in my collection, and it's fun to have stories and history to the frame, however true or not they may be.

Anyways, I took the thing home, put a bunch of parts on it, and took it for a nice 15 mile test drive last night. Definitely need to tweak a couple things, but I'm extremely happy with it so far:

Kind of local thing. Bought two "water bottles" designed to hold bear spray. Insert bear spray and voila you just put in a bottle cage. They are made by a Canadian company. The instructions helpfully conclude by saying to change your shorts if you need to use it/
