Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's sad.... as it's like that mostly everywhere I'd once rode on the road. Yet the pushback on better road cycling infrastructure is getting stronger.

New BB for the Canyon. Didn't splurge on ceramic bearings though, went with steel. The cost delta was pair of GP5000s, so, yeah.

Went over to hot wax a few years back. Game changer for sure! Wow, that first ride on a freshly waxed chain. So smooth and quiet.

So an update on these bars.... They've been lost in shipping for the past 2.5 weeks. The seller has been good about this and shot me a refund on Saturday as the USPS still showed it being at the Post Office in California. The seller reached out to me today as while he was filing a report for USPS, he discovered the bars got shipped to Puerto Rico. Ummmmm, ok, that is a new and impressive fail for the USPS. I am hoping they put them on a plane so I will see them before the end of Feb.

Also, I ordered a Garmin Varia RTL515 today after I got a $250 Amazon card after I built a friend a database for her small home based business that I did not charge her for. I tried to decline it, but she insisted. So I decided to upgrade my Varia from the 315 I have now to the one with the tail light.

Pedal washers and a hydraulic tube cutter. (FWIW, I've successfully cut hydraulic tubes with a sharp razor knife, carefully wielded.)

So it was my 36th wedding anniversary on Sunday. Thursday of last week, I was watching some of the you tube videos on the new Silca chain waxing system and my wife came in to my office\bike cave and gave me some mail that came in. She asked me what I was watching, told her what it was, thought it was pretty cool and looked like it would make waxing my chains a little quicker and easier, but thought it was a little pricey for what it was. Well, it arrived today in the mail, and yep, it made it quicker and easier to wax my chains. In fact, it was so quick, I did 3 of my bikes in less than 45 mins from taking them off, stripping the old wax off with some hot water and dipping them in for a new wax bath. So happy anniversary to me.

Oh and my handlebar order is still floating around Puerto Rico, I ordered it on Feb 3rd and was mailed from California. So I decided to place a new order, they sent these via 2 day UPS... I should have them on Thursday. I don't think I will see the others as I don't think they will ever get off the Island.

I watched that video too and was quite impressed. I got a bottle of my favorite rum on our 45th anniversary just a couple of months ago so I probably won't be getting the Silca, but I like the idea.

Put the blame on me. Seems to be the trend in my life.

Checkpoint is getting circumcised today, glad I could share that.
