Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Specialized Romin saddle. I've had Fizik and have been riding a Brooks Swift for the past few hundred miles, and I wanted to try something different. We'll see how it goes.

Opposing views for sure.
I regret getting rid of my Elites, they were a great wheelset for the money and they withstood all the abuse I could throw at them.
In fact I regret it so much I'm thinking about getting that same deal from Performance LowCel got.

Not a big Mavic fan? I always thought they were on the overrated over marketed freight train.

I swapped 2 stock Fizik saddles for the Romin, this after test riding an SMP Evolution for a few hundred miles.
I don't think you can go wrong with a Specialized saddle.

Very.
Crap for durability, heavy, over priced, and to top it off proprietary parts. I had nothing but issues with them.

I still have mine for backup \ trainer purposes until I build up a set of wheels. The front has this incessant creaking I can't stand that goes away if I lube the fork dropouts. The rear has hub issues that even a new freehub body wouldn't fix.

A new crank for my Madone and a TT bike. Got the RIdley Cheetah from one of our forum advertisers. They are going to put a T2+ S-bar on it instead of the pictured T1+ J-bar. Going to take a few weeks before they deliver it.

Now, I have to figure out how to remove my old crank and install the new one. Haven't a clue, and bike technology has changed a lot since I last wrenched my own bikes.

nateintokyo, I'll bet those boxes were pretty expensive. They included free components inside, right?

I haven't had one yet (a few years back I took an Avatar Gel for a short spin and nearly bought a Milano), but after doing decently well with an Aliante, an Arione, and that Swift, I kinda wanted to go a completely different direction. After a quick 20-mile charity ride Sunday, I was pretty satisfied. The Swift had been getting on my nerves, literally and figuratively, after three hours' riding; but the B17 on another bike will stay with me 'till I die.

Most expensive boxes I've ever bought---and the first time I've ever bought a whole group instead of piecing things together

Got this last week.. got 2 rides in wearing it. i was afraid it would warm up too fast and i'd have to look at it in the closet all summer. very comfy.. wish the arms were a bit tighter and the pockets a bit bigger but still a nice jersey.

I just picked up one of these as well, but in white and silver. A big upgrade from my cheap Bell helmet. It fits perfectly and love that it is much lighter and has a smaller profile.

That's a really nifty gauge, I kind of wish they would just make the pump with that gauge instead of it being optional. SKS made a little pump called the Puro that had a similar gauge but built into the pumps internal shaft (no hose), that was very cool but the pump sucked badly. Not sure why SKS never incorporated that idea into their other pumps that worked far better.

Hit the Performance for a Pair of Forte Strada 700c x 25. Only $9.00 apiece so I couldn't say no. Seems as nice as $13-20 tires I've gotten before (Zaffiros and Dynamics) Hard to tell at this point since I've only got one on the rear. I'll load up a spare front rim I have with the other one and take it out tomorrow. So much easier for me to gauge quality from a front. Seems like it's a hair smaller than Michelin Dynamic 25s.

Might as well add a pic of one mounted.
