Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not sure about ribble, but I know pbk just sends the package and tells you, if it's not there in 31 days let us know. I just let them know by filling a disclaimer form for goods not received. Tires were ordered 1/13/14 and were shipped 1/14/14. Lets see what happens. Price to pay for paying 55% off on stuff.

I've only ordered from the UK one other time and that was with PBK. Order came within a week. Was quite happy with the speed (after I got it not while I was waiting). It's only been 5 days and one of those was President's Day so I'm not concerned that it isn't coming. I just wonder if it is worth my time to keep looking at the tracking information for updates or if it will be a black hole since it was turned over to USPS.

SL 105 pedals
Nice. I would try switching from SPD to these, but I think I've spent enough money for the time being.

Bought some products to turn my S2 into a TT bike. (generic internet pictures shown)
2 position seat post for 76° seat tube.
35° stem (to be flipped)
T2 Cobra clip ons.

Haven't had time to try them out yet though.

funny you say that, cause shes actually coming from an spd set.. she wanted a matching 105 grouping so since she needed a new pair of shoes we figure to just change up her pedals for a little more bike bling

Yeah, they would look nice on my build with the full 105 group, but I just bought my current spd shoes and pedals mid summer last year.

I have only used PBK, but for the standard (free) shipping the tracking stops once it hits USPS (or in my case Canada Post). I had read this somewhere on their site, but can't find it now. Each of my orders have taken just under 2 weeks to arrive.

That's kind of what I'm expecting. I'll stop refreshing the page every few hours. Ribble didn't even give me a tracking number up front; I had to send them an email requesting it. I'm guessing they don't bother with tracking since England is so small you can probably ship anything overnight and the tracking isn't worth your time.

Try using the same tracking code on the USPS website. Sometimes it transfers over. It worked like that when I ordered the Shimano group from Merlin Cycles.

Actually, the carrier would have already been to my place and left the "pick up at post office" note. I'm going to have to try to sneak out of the office early so I can get to the post office to pick it up before they close.

Oh man, I hate when that happens. To the convenience of nobody but the postal office, they are open from 10am to noon and 2pm to 4pm during weekdays. It is not easy for me to take 3 hours off work to get a package. I get in at 8 and get out at 5:30. That means I'd have to come in at 11am or leave at 2:30pm. Take about 30 min to an hour depending on traffic to drive there.

Yeah, my post office is open from 8:30-5:00 M-F and 9-Noon on Saturday. I leave for work at 7:15 and get back to town at 6:15. My apartment complex has an office that UPS and FedEx both leave packages at and I can pick them up there any day except Monday (when the pool is closed). Unfortunately USPS hasn't figured out how to drop things off there.

Ok, so this is not a purchase from my part but a friend of mine came looking for advice on what bike to buy with $800 and I pointed him to a 2013 CAAD 10 5 for $900. The guy says it has 76 miles on it and it seems like it. It comes with Speedplay pedals as well as NIB look pedals + saddle bag. Did I do good on telling him to go for it? Size 54cm, which he believes is his size and I think it is due to his stature.

If it fits, it sounds like a pretty good deal, and he might be able to be talked down a bit.

That caad is an awesome deal. even if its the wrong size you can probably resell it for more then what he pays for it

After spending a grand total of about $15 total (on a CamelBak water bottle) for both 2012 and 2013, 2014 has been a time for restocking.

Mostly expendable stuff, a few bits for the new frame, cold-weather-riding-enabling-stuff.

Here is the groupset and headset! One of my cats (OJ) is sizing up the Ribble box. Until I saw the picture I didn't realize the cranks had that two tone thing going on.

Edit: I have everything on the frame now just have to cable it up and put on the bar tape.

Nice! Is the black version the same as the silver one or does it have difference in weight/function?

Yes, full 105 5700 groupset in black. That is the 170 mm compact crank with the 50/34.
