i'm 6'0" 180 lbs so not the biggest nor the smallest. i prefer to put more weight on my assets vs the hands (even tho my bars are double wrapped). when i first tried the przewalski bibs, the pad felt
(and is) huge compared to some of the other bibs i've rocked (demarchi, castelli, pearl izumi). the assets got over their initial shock and have been happy ever since.

Yup. I'm 5'11", 155 lbs, and when I first tried the Przewalski shorts the padding felt like a gigantic adult diaper. But, dang, it's comfy. Changed my mind about padding.

Before then I preferred the AeroTech Pro shorts thin black and tan pad, really just a couple of bits of thin microfiber cloth with very little loft, the closest thing I've found to traditional leather chamois. And I still like those Aerotech shorts -- wear 'em under my baggy shorts or jeans for riding my hybrid, which now has a fairly firm Selle Italia saddle.

I have some liner shorts meant to be worn under baggy shorts or pants, both using soft microfiber and thick padding with plenty of loft but no really resilient padding. It's just excess material that soaks up sweat.

But Przewalski nailed it with the pads they're using. It's dense and resilient so there's effective cushioning. The outer surface looks dimpled like a golf ball but the texture is smooth, so there's no need for embrocation creams. It wicks perspiration but never feels soaked and waterlogged, and it evaporates quickly while riding.

And I didn't really appreciate pads until I lost about 10 lbs in 2018, partly due to illness and injury, and suddenly my sit bones felt like I had no natural fat pad anymore. I wasn't overweight to begin with at 160, but when I dropped to 150 over the summer none of my saddles felt comfortable for long so I started wearing padded liner shorts under my jeans and shorts even for casual rides on my hybrid.

Even if I nitpick the fit of the shorts -- and I have the same problem with all shorts due to my long and skinny thighs -- I'd buy more of the Przewalski for that excellent pad.

yah. me too. forgot to mention that i've never used chammy creams in my two decades of cycling and not finding it necessary to start now.

Just ordered a pair of 32c Panaracer Gravel Kings for my CAADX, to replace the 37c WTB Riddlers that I had on it for the past 6 months. Nothing wrong w/ the Riddlers, but since I'm using this bike for probably 66% pavement I wanted to try a tire with a more road-friendly profile.

oh and finally rode with the new danny shane tartan plaid jersey. totally a summerish/hot weather jersey so wore three
layers underneath. full zip. digging it but won't fully appreciate it till it gets toasty. will probably pick up another for the hot
socal summer weather since the newest rapha summer jerseys have been underwhelming.

IDK. Pretty necessary for DCs & beyond IMO. If you get a hot spot going,

you can't really stand for the last 8 hrs of the ride.

Picked up a set of Absolute Black Oval Subcompact Chainrings for my road/gravel/whatever bike, 46/30s and the cassette is an 11-32. Haven't actually tried them outside yet but they shift well on the trainer. Last ride was a gravel ride if you can't tell. The rings are way WAY over priced but I found a deal on a new never ridden used set on ebay that was only way over priced. Still cheaper than a new crank and I get to keep my somewhat tight cassette gearing rather than putting an 11-40 on it.

Got some of these with a progressive prescription. With dual VSP they weren't too crazy expensive. My eyes still tear up a little on fast descents but not as bad as with the non-cycling glasses I was wearing previously. Optical quality is excellent and they weigh nothing...especially in comparison to my Maui Jim's.

Some sizes are listed out of stock, but if you wait a week they're usually back is stock. Most of the components are OEM and come in a cardboard box sealed by Shimano with no installation instructions.. Only a few come in the blue retail box.



The front dérailleur is very different from anything I've ever set up before. I couldn't have set it up without this utube video. There is a section around 8:30 that shows how to line up two white lines I would have never seen. The routing if the cable is very different too, he covers that very well. The bottom bracket (English) takes a 41mm socket, There are so many different bottom brackets out there now, it's ridiculous. You'll need the SHIMANO Hollowtech-II Crank-arm/Cap Tool, TL-FC16 to tighten the crank arm, don't over tighten it.
