Cycling didn't bother this knee for 19 years after the operation until early 2008 right after I turned 50. Getting old sucks. As BFers are happy to remind me on a daily basis.
I wouldn't have it any other way. |

Congrats on the new ride. |
hmmm... Andy Schleck respectfully disagrees:
http://www.cyclingnews.com/riders/20...id=schleck0901 "We tried the new bikes in Majorca, too. We were only on them for a few hours but they felt really comfortable. They provide better handling than Cervelo and on descents they're really smooth." |

The bike is stiff, light, which I expected. The ride is quite comfortable, and that surprised me. Smooth even over rough chip/seal roads. Stiffer than the Six13, I really liked that. Great climber. Not bad in wicked crosswinds either. Climbs/descends great. D.A. 7900? Nice, but not too much different than 7800. I miss the gear indicator bubble that used to tell me whether I had one more cog to go in the back or not. Bike fits great, more of a drop to the bars (I think it's half a centimeter) but I'm sure I'll get use to that. Liked it today, a bit of a reach in the drops, but it was 15º, windy as hell and I was wearing a lotta layers.
The Williams 38c's were the right wheels to get for this bike. With those wheels and Conti GP 4000s the bike only weighs 16 lbs 5 oz. with cages and computer. Hard to tell about the performance (speed, aero) on a day like today when it's cold, windy and you're alone. But I was impressed with the bike ride, handling, fit and feel. I think this was the right choice for me. Just what I was hoping for. And that's why I can't test ride bikes. I always have a different impression when I get them home. Don't ask me why. I go by general consensus, and if all the owners and magazines tend to love the bike, I put my faith in that. So far that is working. |
It appears that the new bike has provided Pcad with a halt of the self loathing. How long it will last, only time will tell.

One thing I know you probably won't miss is the FD trim function of the DA 7800. Then again, I find myself not going to the smaller chainrings more and more these days, even with the regular climbs that I do.

We need pictures. Some of the bike, some of you with the bike, some of just you. Get on that!
|
How much $$ did Specialized have to come up with to get the "honor" of sponsoring CSC-Saxo?
BTW I wonder if Schleck's line about how much better "handling" they were compared to Cervelo was simply a sponsorship suck-up calculation. (they are still on the training bikes) |

Pcad,
Why can't you LBS route the cables like this? I know it is not 7900 on this frame, but this seems correct or your LBS just don't know what they are doing. http://www.lifecycles.net.au/content...5bc30e470d.jpg |
pcad - Is Cervelo paying you on commission or did they offer a flat rate ?
:D |

Answer my question. Seriously, I think they just F'd up with the cable routing. It looks totally INCORRECT the way it is now. Fix it IMMEDIATELY. It is like watching someone with a booger hanging out of their nose. You just want them to take care of it right away.

It was all explained a couple hundred times over in the "RUE" thread, Lazy. Go study. We'll expect a book report in the morning.
