Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Now THAT one I will gladly rue! (except the white bar tape, of course)

If you don't mind, what was the final damage to your bank account?

It's ugly...If I would have added up the extra's ahead of time
I probably would have gone with the AR4 and some wheels.

Retail $6299.00

My cost $5799.00
Aero Bars $180.00
Xlab $ 225.00 includes bags
Seat $ 100.00

Credit for
carbon
stem
trade $-100.00
Tax $ 400.00

and it is paid for.

Very nice looking bike, but man I can't help but think of the days when bikes weren't so ridiculously expensive. I'm not a fan of water bottles on the rear, but to each his own.

What's the difference between the 3 and 4?

Nice! And nice cable routing, Pcad should be jealous.

Inside LBS and home garage door - a twofer! Excellent choice with my favorite colors! Must be the new DA with the charcoal levers. A ride report would be nice.

Hello UpStroke,

Looks pretty good. I assume from the aero bar extensions, waterbottle location, and forward seat position that you are using this for triathlons. Enjoy it.

The AR frame is a combination of the F series ( race ) bikes and the Z series
(relaxed) geometry. I ride in the aero bars because Nebraska is a windy ass
place.
Some time trials, long rides and I'm the slowest guy in our group on Saturdays.
I'll do RAGBRAI and Bicycle ride across Nebraska ( BRAN).
I'm putting training into high gear this year so I can hang with the group better
when they take off.
I sold my Kestrel and Trek Yfoil plus cash to make it happen. I also had some cash
I could get to this year that won't happen net year.
The pic of the AR4 was another guy on the nets

Water bottles on the back is a performance thing. When you look at how they
made the down tube so thin putting water bottles in the traditional place
would defeat the purpose. You really need to see the frame in person
to catch all of the aero engineered in the frame.

The extra time it takes to sit up ease off on the power output and reach behind and grab the bottle and then return it back to it's rear postion probably cancels out the areo advantage of the frame. Beautiful bikes nevertheless.
