Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Some recent BF threads have really got me laughing and I would love for people to post links to some of the funniest threads they have come across. Thanks in advance.

There have been many funny posts to BF; some even prompt me to send a LOL PM. One that I can put my finger on was the thread, "Missed my commute..." by macteacher. See especially post #18 by trekker pete.

There've been some some really bad ones lately too... Like the charity ride one which devolved into a fight about diabetes and then claims that global warming is a hoax...

I miss RyanF...

The days of RyanF and Botto being banned, along with the various other amusing characters who are no longer with us, were, in my opinion, the glory days of BF. Things seem just a bit more grey now.

As a rule, I tend to stay away from threads once they start veering off course. I probably miss some gems that way, but I also avoid a lot of the drama. Anyways, after the first page of a topic, you hardly see any 'new' information; just rehashing of old points.

Anything with AlanBikeHouston tended to be pretty good.

He once laid into me when I mentioned I intended to buy a pair of Tiagra STI shifters because that was just the bike companies forcing things on me and supporting Communist China and all that.

A quick hunt came up with this, though there have been better ones.

Yeah, you never saw a Euro thread get hostile.

Looking at that thread again, R600DuraAce has been misquoted for years, he never said he dialed it up to 400 watts.

It was odd. Ben Cousins for the most part was a helpful poster. Then Euro just went progessively farther off the deep end.

what's the policy on bumping these old threads? Anyone want to take bets on how many serious posts follow the bump before the fact that they are years old surfaces?
