Lances Time Trial bike stolen at ATOC

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What are they going to do with it? It's not like they can sell it without being noticed

I never really understand why people would steal one-off items, especially something as large as a bike. You could never sell it or show it publically. You could only put it in your members only basement of stolen goods

You have REALLY got to have some serious stones to do something like that.

Not all theives think that far ahead.

"bike truck" .... "steal bike" .... "sell bike" ... "get money"

The silver brakes really stood out on that TT bike... threw off the whole black and yellow colorscheme. I was very dissapointed. I would only steal it if the brakes matched.

I fess up.
I stole it to use on my trainer. It will never see the light of day again, so unless Lance comes over for dinner, I'm in the clear.

I take exception to the term stole. Did I get it at a good price? Well yes...in that sense you could say I stole it. Besides, he had completed his TT. I like to think of it as borrowing it because he has access to more bicycles than I do. It will be put to good use on muni bike trails. I need to get a kit to match it now and Lance is a bit smaller than I am.

Good luck getting it back. This one won't stand out at the pawn shop.

Maybe we'll get a good craigslist ad out of this,

I agree. Thieves are often quite cowardly, skulking around ... or snatching purses from seniors.

I read recently that thieves are actually quiet unhappy and envious and miserable (and stupid). I would still prefer it they were unhappy, envious, stupid and miserable ... while incarcerated.

Thief: "I've got 3 bikes, how much?"
PawnShop: "They look kinda weird. Why are they like that?"
Thief: "It's from a team. This was ridden by Lance Armstrong yesterday"
PawnShop: "Who the **** is Lance Armstrong?"
Thief: ... "Some guy who races."
PawnShop: (after a brief pause) "$1000 for all three."
Thief: "$2000"
PawnShop: "$1000"
Thief: "Fine."
