Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Meh, it's not that bad. But then, the only two places I've lived while riding are Charlotte and Raleigh, so I probably have distorted views of bad.

I have a few different rides I do. Down south by way of Yates Mill, Penny, Johnson Pond, down through Fuquay is a nice ride. For something shorter heading out Avent Ferry almost to Tryon and then heading over to Cary along Locmeere, that's a nice route too.

Once you get out of town (takes about 20 minutes from campus) the roads are pretty nice and pretty low traffic. That's why I usually head south, because I can get out of town quicker. If I go north from campus, I have to ride through almost the entire city before I get out, same with east. West isn't bad, just not as easy of routes.

That's a great video for showing why it's good to have a helmet. Imagine the Liquigas or whatever guy sliding on his head without one.

Poor pup? That wheel probably cost more than that dog.

they should hand the owner of that dog a bill for the bike. Bothers me every time I see that, what level of stupid do you have to be to take your dog to a bike race and let it run free?

Gotta love that dog. "I think I'll go sniff something over there... YELP!"

I believe Sandy Casar got back on his bike. Attacked his group in a perfect move and won that stage. Brilliant!
