Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Do any of you have bikes you paid more than 6K for? Care to let us take a peek?

I'd reckon that my bike's MSRP would be about $6k
The bike's MSRP is $3700, plus a $500 crankset I put on, plus a $2300 pair of Zipps.

I gurantee that my bike, in its current race-ready form, cost me more than $6k. Sad thing is, it's not even THAT nice...

Total cost comes in @ about $6K, maybe a little more. Add even a bit more with the Zipp tubulars.

That was with a $500 discount, some parts purchased off eBay and from PBK. I'm sure full retail would be closer to $6500-$7000 with the Williams 38c wheels as pictured. Any pro-level racing bike from a major manufacturer will be $6K + these days, some are $8K+.

Just sold this frame and fork but the replacement F&F will keep me in the silly money category. As others have said if I had to pay retail I would be riding a much lower "category" bike but would be just as happy.

Bike retailed for $6000

Actual cost for this configuration,(with credit for the parts that came off) about $8200.

Also in the $8000 range:
