Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

They are forcing me to stay in the 5s because of my overall "suck-factor."

Take the time you waste posting here and train more, then go pro!

Look at my post count to see why I'm still a Cat 4

Can't you get an upgrade based on post count or something, there''s gotta be a loophole in there somewhere.

I race with the 35+ animals, I don't need an upgrade, I need Dr. Ferrari.

Where's the Zen?

Isn't this always the way? Cycling talent is always bestowed on those who can never have any real appreciation of their gifts.

God that's perfect. Hey, there's the Zen right there.

1995 for me, but I did have a 10 year hiatus while I got a life.

That's how everything works. I loved playing trumpet until I majored in music. I loved teaching until I became a music teacher. I love cycling now that I'm not hoping to make it to the 2000 or 2004 Olympics.

Dude- that sucks. Will you be doing some NRC races?

Well... look at the bright side too. You can come out to play at Elite Natz in Bend this year. Same roads as Cascade.

In 2009, losing your job and then your house sucks.

Getting upgraded to a Cat 1 is a badge of cycling honor. No matter how tough the competition are, you are a very elite amateur if you are a Cat 1. Well done.

Wot? Only Cat V's and public racers are allowed to post on these forums and show off those $8,000 CAT V pack fodder bikes. Shoo, go away.

...umm congrats?

I think the Op's point is that he'll be marked as a 1, not that he'll be doing races with only 1's
