Tour of Cali..hidden gems

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tour of Cali..hidden gems

searching over the Amgen tour website...having tour withdraws. i found this day in the life of jelly belly during the tour segment...there have been recent threads about bib cleaning...check out "getting rid of the grim" to see some good tips

https://www.amgentourofcalifornia.com...inlife-09.html

on a side note target has champion sleeveless "base layers" for $6..nylon and have worked great for me.

also..is anyone else going to buy the 2009 TOC dvd??? how long till they come out.

Excellent! Thanks for this link. I was just thinking this afternoon while riding rollers and flipping around the television, "Wow, for the TOTAL sports network, it sure seems like the cover all sorts of nonsense related to the NFL and the NBA...but nothing else."

It is GREAT to see true athletes being themselves off the bike and "get to know" them a bit. I really liked these videos.

On another note, I hope ESPN blows up, I hope their broadcasters die painful deaths, and I wish they could do a story on the NHL that isn't about a goonish incident, a highlight of a futbol match that doesn't involve some tired English joke or accent, and a cycling story that doesn't involve one particular cyclist from TX.

^^yeah..coverage has been a question for me..i mean do you think you would still be into watching cycling as much if it were covered like NFL or MLB?? completely over saturated and gimmicky at times?

ive always enjoyed how cycling was below the radar (when lance is not in the picture) unmolested by media clowns.

the lance effect is also annoying in the way that when i tell people i went to palomar to see the TOC they all say "oh, to see lance!?"....yeah and the other 100 riders that busted their butt...i swear people must think he races by himself.

i am really glad you all enjoyed these videos as much as i did. i love this stuff

Me either, but on the same note, I know a guy who kept telling me he was going to buy either a new wireless SRAM. It took me a while to figure out he meant SRM. When I called it an SRM, he made fun of me.

I like that Brad Huff has a tattoo of a swallow, but identifies it as sparrow. Nice.

...
for the most part Americans love sports that have statistics, that is why baseball, football and basketball are so popular. It makes fantasy sports that much more entertaining for the masses.

thanks for the video link, had some good stuff
