Question about bar end shifters

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Question about bar end shifters

I'm *trying* to install my bar end shifters on a set of aerobars. The rear derailleur is not index shifting, but the red triangle is matched up where it's supposed to be. Is my Shimano dura ace shifter screwed up or am I not understanding something?

When you say that it is not index shifting, do you mean that there are no clicks? If this is the case, you're just in friction mode. Turn the dial into indexed mode.

Yeah, there's no clicking. But, the triangle is on SIS, not friction!?

Is it the whole pre-1997 Dura Ace issue?

Then you must have the shifter installed on the pod incorrectly. Is this new or used?

Sh*t, I feel like an idiot, I forgot the piece that goes between the lever, and the bar piece. The little metal thing. No wonder why the lever was wobbly!
