St. Bernardus Abt 12 or a Westvleteren 12 if I am in the mood for something special. Recently however, it's been mostly stouts and porters instead of Belgian trippels and quads. Highly recommend an Edmund Fitzgerald if you like porters and it's distributed in your area.

I've started doing this thing where I get four or five different beers whenever I buy beer, so I don't have the same thing all the time.

My latest favorite is Lizard Head Red Ale.

Not really a problem for me, since I only drink them one at a time with dinner.

Not quite correct. They're very good, but not exclusively good up here. See the Winking Judge.

On a hot summer night I walked into a funky Hollywood dive that's become a hipster hangout. The place is older than dirt, darker than dark, with red leather seating and a great juke box. The bartender that night was a tall buff hottie with conversational skills. She asked me what I wanted. I said, "First it must be cold, second, I'm not kidding about the cold, third, New Castle Brown." She said, "I don't serve beer any other way." I said, "I love you." She said, "Let's get married." We laughed and I drank a delicious cold beer.

Last time I was in Utah I tried this:

As they say, "Why have just one?"

And last time in Scotland I had too many of these:

along with many "real" Scottish ales.

One at a time, over and over on a pub crawl, got me messed up on my last trip to Portland.

I even nightcapped with a bacon donut with maple icing.

Yeah the real ones are the best! :thumb:
That "Wee Beast" above is brewed at the Isle of Skye Brewery in Scotland.

There's nothing finer than an ice cold Shiner.

If the choice is between Lone Star, Pearl, and Shiner Bock then I would take the Shiner. They all suck, but Shiner sucks less.

Fwiw, Shiner also sucks less than PBR. :D

So I had a taping gig at the world famous Improv last night in Hollywood. I set up in plenty of time, then headed straight for the bar where I ordered a hefeweizen on tap and yacked with some of the comics drinking their liquid courage for the night. I wish I had one right now. I'm having dinner with cousins tonight where I'll be sure to drink a brew or two in honor of this fine thread.

Just want to say one more thing. To everyone who's posted on this thread, I love you, man.:thumb:

so many good beers

Hi,
I ve found I like so many good beers, those German beers, English beers, the only one I very disliked was that Samule Jackson plain which isn't fair cause they must make like thirty micro brews a year.
I even like that hine beer.and that hoogard is a hoot...:thumb:..
Doug
I wonder if you could be embalmed with beer you'ld be pickled for the rest of time......:roflmao2:

I_Like_Bike 03-02-09 06:07 PM

I love all beer but I must say that the best beer is a free beer. I am also looking forward to trying some of the brew you all have suggested.

+1 on the Mac & Jacks. I live here in Seattle where it's brewed and readily available at almost every Seattle area bar/pub/restaurant. Great beer!!!

It has been a while, but I used to drink Matt's Beer, which I think was simply Utica Club that didn't pass the quality test. Now I drink Bass Ale. My husband was hooked for years on Narragansett.

No one ever accused me of having any class.

EffSizzle 03-02-09 06:32 PM

I really like Rogue's "Dead Guy". A couple of these and I see why it's named Dead Guy.

Garfield Cat 03-02-09 08:10 PM

Dark beer: Negra Modelo from Mexico or San Miguel Dark from the Philippines.

Hey - thanks! I don't get up that way too often, but now I have an excuse.
