Why does bonktown hate men?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

since they are a surplus house, it just shows that the clothing manufacturers and large retailers don't have a clue.

Or that a lot more mens' clothing gets sold off, and a much larger amount of womens' clothing remains as surplus stock. It could just be that it's winter in the northern hemisphere, and the offerings will get better as the weather warms up. We'll probably see more wheels and such things during the actual riding season.

I have been pretty happy with their selection, though they do have a lot of woman's clothes. Yesterday they had Sidi Genius 5 and 6.6, Dura Ace 7800 Shifters and a BBB stem.

EDIT: Now they have FSA wheels

I haven't really noticed this gender bias you mention.

But if they re-named it "boobtown", I'd log on whenever I could, just out of hope.

Actually, it's quite often the manufacturer forcing the purchaser to buy stuff they don't want by bundling them together that sells well. For example, you can only buy 10 male tops in blue if you also buy 5 female tops in pink. The purchaser knows the pink tops are probably going to sit around, but the profit margin is worth it even if they have to blow out all 5 pink tops at or even slightly below cost.

This happens with genders, colors, sizes, and other variations on many different products.

They have some pretty nice stuff, IMO.

Reynolds Tubular wheelset, lots of DA-7800 parts, cranksets, computers, shoes.

This was more where my point was directed.

Purchasers make some mistakes, but largely the useless stuff we've all seen at retailers is there because they "had" to buy it to get a better deal.

Perfect example: A company here provided contracted training for cirrus aircraft and thus to get better rates, purchased a number of these aircraft to replace some aging fleet planes. Then the company wanted to buy a nice shiney new Cessna Citation jet. Cessna says, well... if you buy some of our other airplanes for your fleet we'll give you a better price. The company KNEW that buying these planes from cessna would piss cirrus off, but they did it anyways because the profit outweighed the bottom line cost. Thus, pilots lost their jobs when cirrus cancelled their contract with this company on account of all the new cessnas being purchased instead of the new cirrus'.

Hmm... maybe that doesn't make sense... oh well, im too lazy to delete it.

No you won't... you'll see women's winter tights and XXS winter gloves, and tons of other stuff you don't want.

I think this is only partly true. For big brand shops ok but for smaller ones ...
what you are referring to is a consequence to the manufacturers senseless production:
many of them seriously produce as much XXL as L sizes. that is why those sizes end up on ebay.
same for women's apparel - in fact especially.

tell me about colour - even the major brands still do those eye-cancering tones...
and the cuts as if baggy means your stomach is wider than your shoulders.
I am so happy there are a few tight fitters.

I do not believe it is the correct answer. If you check out Nashbar's returned stock section, it is jammed with women's clothing. Women, it seems, like to return things, imagine that? Hence the overstock. That's my theory.

I should hope Bonktown and Chainlove aren't selling returned items under the auspice of "overstock".

Isn't that fraud?

Could be that a lot of those items (Nashbar returned goods) are actually bought by men, trying to persuade their SO's to try riding, but they don't really know what size...

And yeah, women probably are more self-conscious about how they look in lycra, which can look terrible if the fit isn't right. It's not that they "like to return things", they just want things that fit. For one thing, it would help a LOT if manufacturers would stop making women's cycling shorts so...short. We like a longer inseam as much as men do.
