Finding Group rides?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Open Google.
Type your province or state and the words bicycle club or bicycle association.
Hit your Enter key.
Browse through the results.

For example, I type Alberta bicycle club, and end up with several results including one for the Alberta Bicycle Association. Once there I can find their club list:
https://www.albertabicycle.ab.ca/html/clubs.php

You could also try going to a bicycle shop and checking out their brochure rack, but you'd probably have better luck going the Google method.

Most that I know of have no problem with you riding with them. Normally you just have to sign a release form.

Not here in Canada, or at least not in Alberta ... insurance issues ... but Georgia might be different. You'd have to check out their websites for their membership info.

I would Imagine you could get on Highway 6 and cover 100 miles pretty easily.

My club welcomes guests and says so on our website. We don't check membership cards or have a secret handshake. You can probably email the clubs you're interested in and ask what their policies are.

I ride a non-drop ride at the local bike shop, and it's open to anyone that shows up.

Based on previous posts, I understand that it can take some testing to see where you fit in.

As to where to ride a 100 miles in League City- one idea I've got is to go from Clute (my old hometown) out 2004 to Hwy 6, down to Galveston, around San Luis Pass, and back in by Surfside. I think that's right at 100 miles. Right now, some of that highway out by the beach is supposed to be torn up, so I may give it a year or so and have a whack at it.

+1 on LBS - if they don't run their own they should be able to direct you to the local clubs that sponsor rides.
Some of the local teams run web sites where you can get information on their group rides. Most US teams are listed on https://www.usacycling.org/clubs/ just choose a state and find a nearby team. If they have a web site they should have their group rides listed.
