Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

May I have permission...

...to buy a new stem for my already way to extravagant carbon fiber bike? I promise to ride at least 1/4 mph faster on every ride and to not buy another piece of bling all year if I can just get the pissers and moaners of BF to grant their permission for this one purchase. I know in my heart I don't deserve if and that if I lost every ounce of fat on my pathetic body I would still be a lowly toad. I will work extra hard to try not to let the guy on the 12 year old steel Schwinn pass me because I know he will mock me on BF for spending more money than he was able to afford. I will even make an extra contribution to the shelter for those so much less fortunate than I in an attempt to offset my frivolous greedy American pride.

Please, please Mr. Troll may I make said purchase with no fear of retribution and antagonistic threads taunting me saying that your broke ass 18 year old body can somehow manage to pass my tired old bones up a hill. I just don't think I can stand another thread berating the have's because the have not's are jealous about my new Ti or carbon bikes. I know in their hearts they would much prefer me in an SUV drinking Budweiser trying to run each and every one of them off the road. But alas, I've chosen to take the harder path. One where by I can be ridiculed and mocked daily because I made the effort to be somewhat successful and earn a decent living.

I'm so torn, maybe I should sell my bikes and donate the money to those who forgot to pay their mortgage. I'm so selfish and greedy to even think about upgrading my bike.

If you are going to buy one then I will have to buy one. I still have 4 lbs of fat to loose but 40 less grams and some bling clearly have their advantages.

.
I was riding my steel bike in the city a few months ago and some guy on a Paramount pulled up to me and we started chatting. Long story short, he probably dropped more coin on that ride than most do on a brand new CF bike; and a sweet ride it was.

Just make sure your stem clashes with your frame to piss off the haters even more. And red bar tape.

Approved - As long as it's 80 mm or less and you post pics of it so that you will be criticized for having the wrong size frame regardless of your body dimensions, which, of course, no one knows.

Is the stem more bling but the same length or is it a different length? If so, only if you purchase a banana seat. it will allow for the little adjustments without the need for saddle for/aft readjustment.

A stem is a "fit" item, so it goes without saying - of course buy it. Who'd imagine risking disabling physical injury to save a few bucks?

(or at least that's the line I have planned when I need a new stem, and saddle, and seatpost, etc...)
