annual spring cleaning/overhaul day
Finally nice sunny weather has descended here in the south of France so I decided to give the rig a full blown overhaul.
Here's what I did:
stripped the frame and
-cleaned and regreased the UT cranks/BB cups
-pulled the fork and cleaned and regreased the headset, swapped upper and lower bearings
-removed the calipers and rear dr and gave em a good scrubbing, including cleaning and relubing the pulley wheels
-cleaned and greased saddle clamp assembly
-new cassette
-new chain
-new brake pads (swiss stop)
-new cables
-new tires
-new bar tape
-new shifters (ok didn't really need these, but i wanted to try the new 09 Ergo's)
-touched up a couple clearcoat scuffs...
...and pretty much have a new bike.

I curse you, Bruce... in the South of France on extended vacation or sabatical or something, riding a sweet-ass, decked out racing rig that I only dream of riding myself some day.
Very nice!!

Well, this answers one of my questions.
How come you have not cut the small piece on the top of the steering tube above the stem? Why the color in those tires? A great deal?

you know, I had the steerer tube cut just perfect during the intial build- then realized I had spaced on putting the lower bearing race in the headtube when I had it cut . when I put it in I had to use a spacer to get the gap I needed. I've been meaning to trim it, but it doesn't really bother me as is.
I've been a rabid fan of Torelli tires but can't find them over here. Prior to Torelli's I ran Michelins since pre ProRace days and was curious to try the PR3. as for color, I just wanted a change up. Got the PR3's for 32 euros each, so not a bad deal.
