Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Seriously, the automatic attack that occurs here is becoming more and more lame.
There's nothing wrong with being enthusiastic about cycling. And advocating cycling is great too.

But if you don't know ****, don't act like you do. You won't find me posting videos on YouTube of how to safely land a 767 in an emergency just because I watched LOST this week. And play flight simulator.

2:44...Argh! Who installed the right shifter cable?

The bottom line is that for those that know more than he does, they can ignore him. For those that don't, but shortly will, they will figure it out. For those that don't and never will, he is a help to them.

The only purpose he serves on this forum is to be a source of ridicule. For people that don't live here, he might actually be helpful.

If he lived near me, I'd go ride with him for a few miles.
Then I'd drop him like a sack of bricks.

Looks like he took them down... i agree with BD.. no problem being excited about something and wanting to share but... have a clue and perhaps watch it back and look up the technical things to be sure.

I don’t think that guy is promoting the sport; I think he is trying to promote himself. He seems a bit off, or he’s doing drugs, either way he comes across like a know it all. I personally really dislike that. I do also feel a little sorry for him.

Unless they want to know what type of headset they have, for example. In which case, they're boned.

Hey man, landing a 767 on the runway in flight simulator isn't as easy as it sounds.

I sent him an email telling him he was famous and pointing him to this thread. He was not amused. He wrote back saying we should all "get a life" and spewing many other things I can't repeat here.

We should get a life? Like doing meth and making videos of our calf muscles?

No. I just said "Hey Travis, you are famous" and pointed him here.

He responded, in part: "Hey, how about you guys get a life and a job instead of ****ing off in forums all day long. BTW, no drugs just trying to help us AMATEUR cyclist out there. I don't recall ever saying I was Lance Armstrong or Jan Ulrich"

I'd ride with the guy anytime... he seems to have heart and passion for the sport and just needs to htfu.

If he is that dedicated he could probably drop most of us too.

IMO,

Most of the commentators in this thread have more to be ashamed of than the subject of the ridicule.

Sad really...

You all should be so proud....

I think it's absolutely disgusting that the negativity of this board has the ability to extend beyond here.
