Allez "A1" bike...

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Allez "A1" bike...

I know the Allez are entry level, but i am also aware that the A1 aluminum frames are considered better than the current frames.

My question is how much would you pay for a 2000 Allez (A1 frame) with full 105 components? $400?

A1 aluminum, I'm pretty sure that is the bottom line allez version. E5 is different, I would ask 350 for it.

The E5 aluminum frames were the better frame. Specialized reintroduced E5 tubing for this model year, but the bike's geometry is different, so I'm not sure if it handles the same.

If the chain, rings, and/or cassette need replacing, $300; If some life is left there, $350 would be indeed fair (I'm assuming the original Mavics and fork are still on the rig). Be sure it fits.

Have you a parts list?

In Boston, a full 105 specialized allez would be eaten up immediately on cragislist for $400-450. Hell, bikes with sora components go for $300-400 around here, minimum.

Parts list--how "stock" is it. Better: fresh drivetrain, wheels/hubs/rim tape, pads, seat, post, stem, bars/tape, rubber, pedals, cleanliness? If even some of these are present, it may be a good value at $400.

Bone stock and can be made to fit, I'd have $300 cash ready, and perhaps another twenty to freshen the price. It is after all a decade old rig.

Bikepedia.com will have the OEM bits listed. Although they have a "higher" grade BB listed than the actual unit on my 2000 Allez.

I think my rig is a good twitchy ride, albeit a bit "harsh." I am 215# (~225 with a full camelbak), so I think this dampens some of the Al vibes. Mine is stock save for 2.0 DT spokes in the rear and 700x26 slicks.
