To all you cable routing Noah It Alls

My team mate has a new Ridley Noah. It's two months old. It has traditional cable routing (D.A. 7900) that runs the cables past the head tube. 60 days in, the cables have already worn the paint off the head tube. It looks like friggin ass.

In comparison, the S2 cable routing is a Stroke of Genius.

Naked Ti. No Paint to wear off. That is truly a stroke of genius.

3M makes these clear little stickers (about the size of a penny) that can be placed on the head tube where the cables rub. If one takes care to place them without wrinkling them they are virtually invisible.

I've seen those. They are in the Velo Cheese-Whiz Hall of Fame.

They work...I have them on my Pegoretti and haven't even thought of them for 3 years until this post.

just use some dimple tape to protect your paint. dual function, more aero, less paint scratching.

where can i get that stuff?

Clear stickers are on all my bikes to take care of that problem. That way, I don't need housing that represents "anarchy" around my stem.

The S2 cable routing was an afterthought. I'm sure during the engineering phase of building your bike, someone was quoted as saying, "**** it, drill some holes on the top tube."

they have it is clear and carbon fiber for you carbon fiber pansies.

I like these:

They're split down one side so you can fit them over your housing.

Surferbruce 03-23-09 11:43 PM

that's why the little cable guides on the headtube of my LOOK are simple genius, or at least thought out design. internal cable routing is a buzzkill (but not in the way it should be)

Nah, too heavy. :innocent:

With good cable routing, nobody notices a damn thing, because that is the way it is supposed to be.

zzzwillzzz 03-24-09 12:31 AM

i don't know why they changed it, my brothers damocles has the larger lower bearing and they run the cables into the headtube instead of outside of it

Or just do it like Cannondale (for example) and others with the cable stays on the head tube, rather than behind it on the downtube.

You should know that PCad, since you have a Six13.

I like the Six13, but that bike is so 2007. This is 2009. Besides, it has been discontinued. Pity. Fantastic racing bike.

The Six13 is my Ptap platform now. It has a new cassette, chain and D. A. front derailleur (the old one snapped off last week) and it is ready to rock.

Meh. They don't even list the weight. :p

patentcad 03-24-09 05:33 AM

My ego weighs 488 grams, even though the claimed weight is 390.
