Cat Eye Strada Wireless?
 

Anyone else using the Cat Eye Strada Wireless? Just checking because the reviews appear to be mixed on the Performance Bike site but very positive on Amazon.com.

I assume wireless is the way to go and that they've gotten the technology down these days? I'd prefer not to have a bunch of wires wrapped around my fork.

the white one is sexy.

I use it and like it. No problems to report.
It's accurate and I don't see any strange spikes in the data. Some people say they do.

I live in a big city (Toronto) and haven't noticed a thing.

It's small, unobtrusive and the full body button is easy to use.
Recommended.

I just got one for my new build and I've only got 50 or 60 miles on it but so far I'm very happy. Big thing for me was the no button thing because it's so easy to use while riding. It's true that it's sketchy getting it to come off the mount and weird how you can only click it while it's on there but yea.. Other than in setup how often do you need to do that? I like how small it is too. Barely notice it on my stem and it looks slick. Doesn't throw random weird 75mph readings totally screwing up your stats when you're rolling your bike like the crappy performance one on my commuter.

In a nutshell if you're just looking for something real basic no hr or cadence I'd recommend it for sure

I have had mine for almost a yr. Zero problems so far. I ride all winter through slop and It had been dead on.

If I cross under some high power lines driving, I have seen my Max MPH jump to like 60 but the mileage is fine. No problems if I ride under them. This only happened twice and I take the same route to and fro multiple times.

I wish I had Cadence...and I see now that they have the Cat Eye Strada Double Wireless (I've seen it for about $100)

you can still "click" it when it is off the mount. Just press the bottommost button to toggle through the options...after my trek i vowed to never go wired again, just a pain so i got the cateye. Its good, ive set my backpack on it once and completely erased all my data!!!

Oddly enough mine showed up in the mail just after reading this thread. While I cannot comment on how well it works, I will say it is tiny. I'd say about half the size of my Flight Deck. It measures 1 3/16" X 1 13/16". Luckily for my eyes the numbers in the display are a good bit larger than the Flight Decks. All of the mounting and hardware bits seem high quality and well thought out. The default setting for wheel size is 700x23c so it took seconds to set up. I paid only $38 with shipping, my creaky knees dictate my cadence so I didn't need the more expensive model.

Love mine! Small, easy to read, easy to click (even with winter gloves) and wireless!

I liked mine, too. Tiny, big enough display, and super easy to click through the data (even with gloves, as AndyK mentioned).

But, the interference that avmanansala alluded to was worse when I used a Dinotte light -- it simply wouldn't work if I had set the light to a flash mode. I took it off that bike and put it on another with a dynohub (my only bike where I know I'll probably never bother with a Dinotte), and although I haven't tried replacing the batteries on either the transmitter or receiver, it wouldn't work properly around the Lumotec headlight.

Interference-wise, I'm disappointed. I'll stick with the wired Strada since I like everything else about it.

I used one for 10 months without any problems. Really like the diminutive size. I have a spare one I can sell you - PM if interested.

No problems and I have one on each of my bikes.

I have one, it's been great. It has started rattling a little in the mount when I go over potholes. This is after maybe 3000 miles. Probably an easy fix but I haven't gotten around to it. Functionally it's perfect and very easy to set up.

I'm probably going to get the double wireless for my new bike.

If you don't want cadence it's perfect.

small, light and works very well.

very light, very small and very reliable.

the no button feature is a real winner. no tool mounting is nice if you need to adjust on the road. never had a stray reading.

although small, the display is big enough to see. a lit display and lap timer would be nice. the magnet is kinda large too.

i will be switching it out because it lacks some features i'm now looking for such as cadence and heart rate (polar CS600x is next).

The only thing I don't like about the Strada computers is the lack of a backlight. Other than that, they're great.

Not to hijack, but has anyone mounted the sensor on the chainstay and the magnet on the rear wheel?

Thought about it for trainer use, but i'm afraid of catching the sensor with my heel and rendering it inoperative. Anyone with any experience with this setup?

Cateye's instructions say to mount it with the bottom of the computer facing the sensor. Indeed, if it was tilted too far forward or back, its reliability seemed to suffer. I haven't tried it set up like you're asking, though.

I have one and like it very much, I live in a large city and have not had any RF problems in terms of strange mph readings. My ONE complaint is the timer. I might be wrong, or am reading the instructions incorrectly, but the timer stops when the bike stops. So elapsed time represents time while rolling only. I wish it would show me the total time for the journey, stops and all - and I do have to stop at some lights. :innocent:

i have mounted the sensor on the seatstays but couldn't get reading to the stem. only about 50cm max apart so i mounted on middle of the top tube on the off-season trainer.

yes the timer stops when you stop. elasped or total ride time only.

they just released the strada double wireless that has cadence and mounts to the chainstay. that solves a few wishes:thumb:

Haven't had any problems, save the occasional 65 mph top speed reading. They need a "top speed reset" function. Otherwise, love mine.

i prefer the v2c, the 2.4ghz transmission protocol gets rid of strange readings.
