KCNC products Feedback on quality please
I am thinking of pulling the trigger on KCNC skewers, cassette and the brakes...I know they are light. What I really want to know for those using it is that how about performance, durability and quality?
Thanks! |
That's over $1 a gram in...savings...or something.
|
I have KCNC brakes on my Helium. They work just as brakes should...they slow me down and stop me when necessary. They aren't as good as the Mavic brakes I took off the bike, but they do the job.
They ARE hella light though...and they look cool. I wouldn't pay full metal retail for them. I got mine on Ebay for @ 1/2 of retail, new in the box. I also run the KCNC aluminum pulleys. I think they work very well and have switched to them on both road bike and will probably do the cross bike at some point. |
I have KCNC brakes...KCNC skewers...and KCNC seatpost collars. They look nice...they're light...and so far, no problems. I'll definitely complain and whine on the boards if they ever implode or fail!

Bought 2 brake sets off eBay. They work well enough: not as powerful as DA. Nice look, very light. However, I would NOT pay full retail for them were I you.
|
I got the KCNC Ti skewers. Combined weight of both is lighter than one of my old DA units. They function fine. I'm a 175lbs rider.
|
I've got KCNC seatpost, brakes, and skewers. No problems at all. 150lbs.
|
Where is the best place to buy KCNC parts? I am looking to get some skewers.
|
www.fairwheelbikes.com
top quality customer service and fast shipping. plus they don't sell what they don't have in stock! |
2nd on fairwheelbikes. Got my stuff from there; great bunch of guys.
|
Brakes, QR skewers and other titanium or aluminum stuff = awesome.
Scandium gear = garbage. |
I have the skewers, they seem to skew pretty well.
|
I've used:
Brakes-awesome with the right pads post clamp- great post-great cassette-worthless. bent the 12 on my first sprint |
3rd to Fairwheel! Don't get the brakes if your heavy. Light riders can get away with them but big guys tend to have problems.

Yes on the skewers, maybe the brakes if you have money to burn... but an aluminum cassette... are you kidding?

For that money there are ton of other things that can save more weight.
|
Skewers are great. Use them on road and MTB. I've used their seat posts and they are OK. Bars are good. Brakes work good, but ugly (IMO). Avoid the cassettes. They work OK... but wear really fast and are susceptible to breaking teeth off.

Most of their parts are a very good value compared to other light stuff, and well designed. I'm very impressed with the skewers. The brakes are not as good as other heavier offerings, but a good value if you are looking for light parts. |
