Transitioning from MTB to Road
Need help here:
Would like a descent road bike for around 1200-1300 bucks. Noticed some house brands and the no-names with high end components and noticed some better named frames with lower end components. What to do?..... Also, anybody heard about BH Bikes? Dave put it best when he said "You Pay for What You Get" as learned in my MTB experience. Thanks |
imo specialized allez elite which is in your price range is a good starter bike. I just picked one up and it's been great so far. Decently light frame with carbon rear fork front fork and seat post. Also depending on what year ya get there's a good chance you'll have shimano 105 componets which aren't the very top of the line but aren't junk either

I too was an MTBer and discovered roadcycling (riding in traffic is still unnerving though) a handful of years ago.
Just like in the MTB world there are so many options out there that there is no really no need to ride a house brand - unless you want to or it's so downright cheap that they're giving them away. FWIW, a few weeks Performance Bike had a carbon Fuji with 105 components which was originally $2000 and on sale for half that at $1000. No experience with it though. With that said I think you can get a very decent bike in the $1300 range, but everyone's standards are different. |
