There's no way I'm fitting anything like a bike inside this car. I need suggestions on, preferably a roof rack setup, that works on a two door coupe that's really secure. He's what my car looks like:

Go with a hitch type of rack. If you do any kind of track events with it you can have a hidden hitch put on it. I have a ball hitch on my 911SC for pulling a small trailer for my wheels/tires and tools.

First of all - beautiful Porsche. Second, try a hitch mount rack, I think it would be less prone to scratch the finish on your car.

You should be able to fit a bike in the 944...I have an RX-7 (same proportions) and there is a ton of space behind the seats.

i would get a hitch type rack and specifically the kind that hold the bike standing on the tires, not the kind that dangle from the top tube (every one of those kind that I've ever owned sucked totally). Saris makes one I'm familiar with, it's excellent.

I'm sure i could figure out how to fit it in the trunk, but I value my trunk space (i know that sounds ironic considering the car I own). I will experiment though and see how it works out. And the hitch rack is a great idea, but the bike I want to haul around is really valueable and I don't want to risk it getting rear ending.

And for rooftest, you're absolutely right, the "poor man's Porsche," with almost perfect weight balance and insane handling is a rolling piece of ****, only second to the Mondail. Hopefully when I can afford a mint 928 I'll have earned your respect.

That won't work with your car. Separate the wheels from your frame and store where they fit. Plenty of room for a passenger after that.

Thats what insurance is for. As long as it is attached to the car, you are covered.

Ironic that you are more worried about your bicycle than you are your Porche and then you say the following:

I agree you should get a small hitch and hitch rack......the small hitch can also pull a small trailer to get your track wheels/tires to and from the track (that's the car track, not the bike track).

Advice....join the Porsche club, do some autocross and driver's education events on the track, they are TONS of fun and make you a better driver. Cost is relatively minimal and no modification is needed for your car for these types of events at entry level.

off topic....the 944 has insane handling. With a few cheap suspension mods, it's hard to beat that car on a track. If you have a nicely modded 951, that car can't be out handled and out run on a track by many cars. It's a great car for what it is. I hope to have a 944 and a boxster in my fleet someday. I agree with Nickshu but what can I say we both drive a great car.

It appears that Rooftest doesn't know much about cars other than what he reads or sees on the streets of Orange County. The 944 was a very nice car for the times and it still gets great respect from true sports car enthusiasts. It's almost as bad as saying 914 stinks.

Sorry, I just can't tell you how nice your car is because I never understood the concept of a Porsche that got readily trounced by Mustang GT's & IROC's costing half as much

Have you ever driven a 928? If you have, I don't think you would be insulting this car. The 928 is a great car.
