I just bought my first chain lock - it's BRUTAL looking - but maybe too short?

UPS showed up at my door about a half hour ago with a package that contained the OnGuard Beast 5017 chain lock I purchased online. I definitely like the look of it but I wanta ask all the other chain lock users out there:

The chain lock I bought is 3 feet 7 inches long. Is that gonna be long enough for riding in a downtown, urban area? It kinda looks to be on the short side but then again I have zero experience with locking a chain lock to something solid. Whatta you guys think, you think it'll be long enough for street action or should I send it back and get a longer one? (I ride a mountain bike around town on surface streets.)

Remember to get a fanny pack, deep v-neck t-shirt, some big rimmed glasses without prescription lenses in them. Size doesn't really matter as long as you can wear it around your waist.

^ plus post in commuting or single speed where someone else who might carry a heavy ass chain around would post.

Why do you need a special lock just for your bike chain? I'v never heard of anyone having their chain stolen before.

I hope you're being sarcastic but if you aren't, the OP is referring to a lock made out of chain. Probably thick heavy chain.
