Walmart now sells carbon

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The first customer review is funny.

"Very lightweight but some cheap components, 05/05/2008

Seat collar (clamp) broke when tightening it. It has a brass collar that will lose all its threading if you tighten it too much. A defect on the handlebar tape as it came broken. Tires are not the best but are okay. May not be as durable as other bikes.

Pros: Very light. Sleek look and color scheme. "

I think they missed the credit cycle by about 5 years. Do people still walk into Walmart and plop down $1500 on their credit card for a friggin bike? I'm surprised people ever did...

I wish I had a pet monkey so I could buy the frame and crash it to see what happens.

Shipping weight does not equal bike weight.

Used the closeup feature: Ultegra crank, brifters, and RD. For whatever that's worth.

Just buy the $500 Schwinn carbon bike at Wal-Mart. If mean if you're gonna buy at Wal-Mart, why drop $1500?

Right. The shipping weight includes all the packaging (box, padding, boxes inside the box, tape, twist ties, plastic wrapping).

Those spokes are paired... Rolf has a patent on that. When I was on the Phone with one of their reps he was telling me that they prosecute people who violate it. They have sold the rights to Bontrager. I woulder if they have sold them to that Schwinn or its parent? Or maybe they have some money to make...

How could you patten a lacing pattern?

I don't know... All I do know is that the Rolf rep kept telling me that it was a patented pattern that they "defend aggresivly." He talked about how they have sued multiple companies who have tried to use it and won.
