Which route type should I use with my Garmin

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Which route type should I use with my Garmin

I'm doing this century ride in a month and I'd like to use my new 705. I've downloaded .gpx, .crs and .tcx files from Bikely.com and mapmyride.com. How do they differ and what would you recommend using and why?

Thanks!
Cliff

.gpx

It's what I've always used and know it works. Dunno what a .tcx is but .crs would be a course.

GPX is a route file. Look carefully at the route once you load it to your Edge to be sure it is following the route as you planned.

A TCX and CRS file are both course files, CRS is just an older format. The TCX will not have any issues and is the least prone to issues. The drawback is that it does not give you any warnings. You can however import the TCX file to Garmin Training Center and add turn markers, rest stops, or any other kind of warnings you like.
