Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I fail to see how making the guy wait until Lance showered up and Brunyeel verified his credentials qualifies as bad conduct, but whatever.

My source says the reason the French were so upset was that at the time he was supplying the urine sample, he went ahead and pinched one off for them to test while they were at it.

French are probably mad that they can't win their own tour? Test'em but let the guys race if they are clean, sheesh.

Regardless of what occurred during the sample collection, it is clear that LA believes he can play on the U.S. public's contempt of the French, pumped up to a fevered pitch in the U.S. following France's reluctance (along with Germany, Russia, China, Canada, etc) to rubber-stamp the U.S. invasion of Iraq (thus the elimination of French fries in the congressional cafeteria, replaced by "Freedom" fries... and boycotts of French wine... and anti-French bumper stickers, etc).

So, Lance was pissed at the 24th collection. Guess I can understand that... yet it comes with the territory. What galls me is his repeated references to the "French" guy, as if he complains about the "French" enough, people will view any testing or probing as an ill-founded vendetta against him. BS.

What were they expecting? Is Lance just supposed to pee to any stranger with a cup without challenging the guys credentials first? I don't even open my front door to strangers much less give him my blood. Idiotic.

Well, he is in Texan when this individual from a French agency, whom he doesn't know, shows up ... what would you like Lance to refer to him as?

What I find interesting is that this becomes a story because he asks to verify identification. I wouldn't be giving testing samples to anyone until I knew who they were.

Yeah, come on, someone would probably sell the sample on E-bay... (I probably just gave someone an idea...)

France is a wonderful country. I love it there. The French are a very proud and highly nationalistic people just like Americans. They like to do things their way and not be told what to do by anybody - sound familiar?

Lets also not forget who owns the rights to the tour de france, do you really think they would pass up a chance to stir the pot and add some intrigue to the up coming tour??

I have one...it says:

"What do the French know of testosterone?"

I still have not gotten an answer.
