Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Help with Booties ...

... yeah, I know, spring is here, but it's still f'ing cold up here - plus off season is when I do most of my shopping = sales.

Does anyone know if something like this https://www.mec.ca/Products/product_d...=1239204483528, will work with a MTB shoe? I'm using Specialized, FWIW. These, or the similar PI product.

Thanks.

And yes, eventually I'll get "real" road shoes.

No reason why it wouldn't work with a MTB shoe.

May be overkill for spring though, how cold is it up there now?

I have a pair of Performance booties for my size 43 (9 usa) mountain shoes. The booties are made for road shoes, so my booties are size 11. Performance usually has booties on sale for about $25.

good luck.

... we're had snow the last three days. Jeesh. I've got a few really long (for me) rides coming up and I really hate having cold feet. That, and I'm going to need 'em anyway for the fall / winter.

I actually check with the store (d'uh!) and they are apparently compatible with MTB shoes. Yay.

Read the reviews though, they are not waterproof, but they are warm. And they are meant fot MTB shoes, so the bottom is much more open than the ones you posted.

This is what you need. I have them and love them, although they won't be as warm as what you linked to. They've got two holes that fit around the standard cleat areas of MTB shoes.

They'll work, but you'll want a big size because they'll be tight.

If I were you, I'd go with these:
https://www.mec.ca/Products/product_d...=1239241626011

It's not cold enough at this time of year to need neoprene and these are much easier to get into.

Best ones I've used: https://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Product..._200275_200382

Yes, they're Nashfred, not light, and they even look kinda dorky BUT they are easy to get into, warm, and they wear like iron.

I tried to like the PI booties, but they are craptacular. If you ever take more than two steps with them on, they positively shred. And forget trying to get them on quickly.

I've got some LGs for warmer weather that aren't too bad.
