What jerseys can a non racer pull off? Pics?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What jerseys can a non racer pull off? Pics?

I'm sure it's been asked a million times but search option is worthless.
Can an weekend warrior (non racer) wear a Team/Pro jersey...Like a Quickstep or a Specialized Pro jersey for example.
I'm learning fast that there are a lot of rules in this sport and just want to stay in check.
Plus I'm getting tires of the solid plain jerseys, just looking for some style. Post pics please.

The only reason you should not wear a pro team kit is if it bothers you.

No.

All those pro jerseys you see on the intranet and in shops can only be bought by the guys on the teams. Good thing you checked here first my friend.

The only jerseys I wouldn't wear (this is me, I don't judge anyone else) are leader's jerseys and the WC jersey.

Poseur yourself up to the hilt if it makes you want to ride more.
Or if it's Fred-style your looking for, go PM PCad. I'm sure he has some pointers.

Uh - you're operating under the impression that there is something that you can do or not do or some way you can act or not act that is going to keep the other bike riders from mocking you. Once you figure out that's not gonna happen no matter what this sport becomes a lot more fun.

A non racer isn't really a bicyclist. So picture Richard Simmons mid cut cotton t-shirts and striped running shorts.

People will think you are a poseur. If that doesn't bother you, then wear it. I think it's a much better idea to join a local cycling club even if you don't race. You'll get some jerseys to wear and camaraderie as well.

Rule for wearing team jerseys for teams you don't belong to is to wear them under your bibs.

I have no problems wearing team jerseys, but no leader / WCS jerseys for me. Oh, and I don't buy the full kits (ie: matching bibs). Show support, not impersonation.

Well said.

Agree with the leaders/WC jerseys. Nothing cracks me up more than to see a clydesdale wearing a replica Polka dot jersey. Oh, that, and anything that Primal Wear offers.

there are no rules. Wear what you want. I saw a guy in a full US Postal kit that had been ridden hard. It looked fine. If I see a deal on a full kit, I'll probably buy it. PBK has team kits in their clearance, but only the odd sizes. That means someone is wearing the normal sizes. I have a jersey from a team that was sponsored by the Austrian Army. I still wear it.

Isn't it technically illegal to wear a current pro-team jersey in competition if you aren't a member?
