I don't have earbuds in when I ride on the road. Most days I just have time for a quick ride on the local paths (we have a pretty good system in Omaha). We don't have any hair raising descents though! I have a pretty eclectic collection but I find the louder, faster stuff to be the most inspirational. 80's hair metal and most anything by the Ramones are good! "Vehicle" by Ides of March works suprisingly well although it's hard to keep the upper body still!

Haven't ever raced. I keep saying I want to but haven't yet, I suppose for fear of being dropped right away and looking totally foolish. I probably shouldn't care. Where is a good site with info on local races?

I had the Sansa....kept freezing up on me....it sucked out loud (at least mine did). I now have an 8GB iPod Nano and I love it. The 4th gen iPod blows away the audio quality of any personal MP3 player I have ever heard. I am using Koss Sparkplug earbuds as well....awesome. I have alot of music in mine...lots of blues, classical, classic rock, and jazz. I would say that the artists I have the most of are Steely Dan, Spyro Gyra, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Earth Wind and Fire and a GREAT Canadian band from Newfoundland called Great Big Sea.

Thanks. The idea of a crit appeals and scares me. I'd like to think I could keep up for a 30 min. race, but I've seen alot of crits and a lot of crashes in them. Worried I'd get hurt and miss work.

I love my Sansa (280), too, but have never listened to a "real" iPod. My daughter had a Creative Zen a while back and the software on that was great. I liked the feature that would select little-played tunes, for instance. Didn't last long, though.

OK, I poked around a bit and couldn't find a thread like this, so I hope it hasn't been done already. What songs seem to work well in different situations? This occurred to me today as I was grinding it out into a headwind and "Bad Luck" by Social Distortion came on and worked really well. Also, "Paranoid" by Sabbath is great hammering with the wind at your back. Suggestions?

You limit your musical choices by removing an entire genre? There's an awful lot of rock and roll in country these days.
Then again, I eliminate the genre of opera and polkas so to each his own. There are some pretty good opera overtures though.

willing to take a blind sound test on that? Isn't an mp3 an mp3? You can maybe change the equalization but aren't they basically all the same?

been listening to nothing but trance lately, if you guys want a good postcast check out 'Push the Night' with DJ Brad Miller, download anything that has 'Trance' in the description, you won't be disappointed
maybe i'll upload some hip-hop mixes for you heathens later, i know good rap is hard to find, but i've got a couple playlists i think even you guys might enjoy

Syncing to the iPod Touch/iPhone is much more difficult without iTunes on OS X or Linux (though possible).

Never used the Iphone so I guess I am lucky. I wouldn't mind itunes if it didn't take up so much memory and run 5 things in the background. I would recommend foobar to those that can use it
