Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Is this your first road bike, and you got it about two days ago?

Just don't drop the brown carbon; I've heard that that stuff will mess you up.

You have no idea what he was thinking when was looking at you. You should have returned the favor by letting him draft off you.

this whole 'competitive' commuting ethos has to be rethunk! some bloke i occasionally see on the road was, about three weeks ago, obviously 'admiring my bike' with an almost pathological enthusiasm. we were waiting at a roundabout for the lights to turn green and he gave me a stare that Armstrong would be proud of before trying to shoot off. i tried to acknowledge his presence on earth with a greeting but he was having none of it..

on the green he buzzed off in a dangerous huff and i followed in his welcome wake. Him and i seem to use this stretch of road in ealing at the same time on mondays and thursdays every week and sometimes we end up in close proximity. the thing is that i ride faster than him and i am neither proud nor bothered by this fact, but he seems to be. it'd just make my day if he for once said a normal hello, then i'd gladly give him a wheel for the four or so miles of road we share. instead all i get is angst...i hope he has a puncture soon. maybe i'll stare him down before putting the hammer down and cackling in manic manner.

the old timing chip on the left ankle trick.

Levi looks unimpressed.

What did Levi win for the race? A case of powerbars?

i would keep my mouth shut about this. how old are you?

at least FREDs enjoy cycling culture, are trying to get fit, appreciate gear and ride in groups.

you are worst than a FRED.

just my opinion.
Hostile much?
