Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Need help with dropbar and cycle computer/light fit

Hi, I'm new to the forums (and road biking too!). I just picked up a Novara Strada at REI yesterday with their friends & family sale and went to transfer over my head light and computer from my MTB and ran into some sizing problems.

This is my first road bike so I'm completely new to this. The bike has a FSA Vero Compact dropbar on it, so when I went to mount my light & computer, the mounts didn't fit. The handlebar is much larger where it connects to the stem and out for about 2 1/2 inches (which is where I'd want to mount my stuff). It does taper into the same size as my MTB bar, but it doesn't taper until the tape starts and the brake cabling is under that, as well as the fact I wouldn't be able to use that position for riding.

When I looked at the mounts I had on my MTB, they were much smaller. I'm trying to figure out how/if I can mount them on the dropbars. I'm unable to order anything from the light manufacturer (nite hawk is out of business) and I can't find anything on Planet Bike's website (Protege 9.0) about sizing it. I can't for the life of me remember if they came with two different sized mounts since I got them about 5 years ago.

So my question is, does anybody know if the FSA Vero Compact is a special size, or would any light/computer fit the larger part of that bar (in which case, I'd have to track down a replacement mount or buy new stuff)?

Just bought one, I think this will work perfect for my light(s). I'm going to pick up a new computer though, that will mount on the stem. Thanks for help!
