how can you tell if your shimano shoe is molded?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

how can you tell if your shimano shoe is molded?

i bought the mold able shimano shoes from a friend, and they were brand new in box. trek store wouldn't return the gift he had gotten from his wife because it was over 30 days. i know him from my mercedes club and i bought them from him and went to trek store to have them molded and they are saying you are not this guy on the receipt and therefore we can't re-mold these shoes. the guy swears up and down they have been, but looking at the shoes which are new from various sites, the heel looks the same......... any input would be appreciated.

It's in the thread title. How can you tell if a moldable shoe has indeed been molded.

1st I wouldn't do business with that store if the wouldn't at least offer to mold them for a price. The shoes can be molded several times. Usually the only real way to tell is around the toe area. The vacuum process tends to create a ripple as it sucks in.

How can you tell if your shoe's molded? This slimy substance, usually green, is present, and there's an odor.

Drying and exposing them to plenty of sunshine should help. Tilex for a tough case.

Thanks.

Unfortunately he says they were brand new in the box. To me, that would indicate they had not been touched.

Having worn a pair that were my size and not molded for me (but had been for a friend who let me use his) to test out a set of wheels (when I didn't have my own shoes handy) you can tell right away when you put them on.

the heel cup will be dimpled in around the ankle and pretty firm if it has been molded to a foot. andyes, it can be remolded up to three times.

Are they claiming that they would do the molding for free if it hadn't been done yet? Or does the molding expire in the 30 days just like the return policy? If the former, it sounds like they're being asses and that would be the last time I set foot in their shop.
