Blasphemous Content Within: BonkTown Related
I don’t have the BonkTown gadget installed here at work, so I am not privy to all the deals at all times, but does anyone else find there hasn’t been that much of interest for sale lately? It seems to just flip flop between Zoot Tri Shorts and over priced Pinarello steel framesets. Lets see some more bibs and stuff people can actually use. Then again, maybe its just me.

Snagged a second swobo wool jersey yesterday. Since most of my spare $$ has been going to the house it's probably good that there hasn't been that many screaming good deals...

Got some Sidi genius 5s a few weeks ago. Pretty happy with the price, about $40 cheaper than I have seen anywhere else. That said, I don't know how many times they can put the same set of drop bars up there before I stop checking.
Now if I can just figure out how to stop my toe from going numb.

I think that's a given. When clothes go on sale, whether bike related or not, there always seems to be an abundance of woman's apparel relative to men’s. In my dark past as a college student I was a manager at Abercrombie and we were sent at least 3X as much of any given item of clothing for females vs. males. I guess the logic being that they mark up the original MSRP so that when all the stuff goes on “sale” and females are swarming the sale racks like, they would still be making a considerable profit at the “reduced” prices.

Two weeks ago: Crank Bros Quattros new for the price of used w/o cleats on eBay. Not a steal, but since they stopped making them and my old ones need a rebuild (which I need to get the kit from CB) I'm happy.

I've gotten a bunch of stuff from Chainlove (before BonkTown existed). Usually what happens when they just get an item in is that they'll have a decent amount of colors/sizes. The popular ones go pretty quickly, and they keep relisting the oddball size/color combos. I've gotten a few deals:
Easton EA70 Wheelset ($210 I *think*)
A couple jerseys, Castelli, Adidas
A pair of Sugoi shorts
Some Adidas Carbon soled shoes
So there are deals, but in each case, if you're not XXXS or XXXXL and don't want weirdo colors, then you need to jump on the deal when the item is just listed.

Guys - you do realize how bonktown works right? They obtain excess inventory from mfg or distributors at a discount, and then sell it to you at a discount.
Of course there are many reasons why a mfg would have excess inventory, but typically its because the item didn't sell. This is why you often see the extreme sizes, oddball colors and other random knick knacks.
If you want 'popular' items, you'll have to go through a regular retailer and pay regular prices.

If the Continental GP 4000's I got for $26 a couple of weeks back are the only thing I ever pick up from them, bonktown will still be the greatest in my book.
Yes, most of the stuff is junk, but they still seem to have that one deal a month that pops up and is worth every penny.

Thats not quite how it works. They sell off all the stuff from Backcountry.com's many sites that are left over. I don't think they are activly buying stuff to sell on there.

Anyone remember when they sold bike stuff on steep and cheap? I think to this day the best deals have been from that site. I picked up 2 pairs of castelli ypro bib shorts in 07' for $75 a pair, they are still going strong today after 10k miles.

I think the best time to shop Bonktown/Chainlove/etc is during late winter/early spring, when they have a ton of year end closeout items that distributors are dumping on them. By the time late spring/summer has rolled around, virtually everything that's worth having has been gobbled up and they're left rotating the unwanted table scraps over and over and over and over. Of course they might get a good deal here and there on a new item, but I think we're going to see nothing more than womens clothing, XXXXXL bibs/shorts and ***** ugly fred yellow jerseys for the forseeable future.

Every once in awhile there are some decent tires up for cheap. I got some nice Conti GP 4000s in 25mm, which I can't seem to find in the local shops.

Funny, after this post, I have noticed some different things up there. Earlier today, Hincappe (sp?) winter Bib Tights for about 50% off. Maybe they have been reading this.
