How much should a NEW Specialized Allez Elite Compact Double cost from a store?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I think my local dealer may be a little expensive. The MSRP on the bike is $1550, what would you expect to pay at your favorite LBS?

Unless it's a sale or year end blowout, expect to pay msrp or pretty darn close to it.

Why the Elite when the Sport is $300 cheaper and just as good where it counts?

On Long Island the Sport is $1150, the Elite is $1450.

$1650 CDN (about $1350 US) last year. I was lucky enough to snag it for $1100 CDN on end-of-year sale. I absolutely adore it.

The Sport verison is my "not so nice weather" bike. It is just as fun to ride as the Tarmac. My only complaint is the stock tires are garbage and the 105 left brifter shifts clunky (for lack of a better term), but it hasn't died like so many other say their's have, yet.

I have another bike with a double chainring and 105s. I think it is because the brifter is double/triple compatible, so when you've got it shifting a double it hangs up on the middle "click" of the shifter.... if that makes sense.
