Lance gets a Pass

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I think maybe they saw a lot of dollar signs being flushed down the toilet if he doesn't ride.

They cut off his hair but didn't test it? Maybe a throat culture, some fingernail clippings and a snot rocket next time.

I think they saw 21 more chances to bust him if he's in France come July.

Le Tour needs to hype up the Lance vs. Contador rivalry more. That's a layup, cash-cow.

All the elements are there to make this year's TdF epic ("Lance vs. Contador / Lemond vs. Hinault", "Is Lance Doping?", "SRAM, the new kid", "Livestrong", etc.).

Of course they're going to let him ride. Did anyone really believe they wouldn't? They may hate Lance (and possibly the U.S. in general) with a passion, but they're not stupid. Too much coin at stake.

BTW, I love how reporters don't even need to do interviews anymore: just quote from Twitter.

As much as we Fred's enjoy riding the TDF is a "business". It would be stupid to cut the money out of the tour by excluding Lance.

The next step is a newspaper consisting solely of Twitter updates; no reporters.

I wonder what things would be like if reporters actually had to work for a living.

Question, if his injured collarbone begins to hurt during the tour is he allowed to take a pain killer, or are they not allowed to have any drugs in their system?

Real reporters do work for a living. And pretty darn hard. You just probably haven't encountered one lately. There aren't any on TV, and newspapers are shrinking faster than my 401K, and bloggers just comment on what newspaper reporters write, or quote twitter or other bloggers.
