Univega Gran Premio v Schwinn Circuit

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Univega Gran Premio v Schwinn Circuit

I'm looking to get my first geared road bike and have a couple options I'm considering. One is a 1999 Schwinn Circuit frame (Reynolds 853), aluminum fork, octalink 5500, headset and Salsa bars for $100 https://bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeS...6475&Type=bike. The other is a Univega Gran Premio complete from the mid-80s (looks like this one https://farm1.static.flickr.com/173/4...d30f78.jpg?v=0). It has Suntour Cyclone derailleurs and is made from Tange tubes (not sure what grade). I'm not sure what, but the price will be good. Which would you guys prefer? Any thoughts on the bikes in general?

Go with the Schwinn. It's a steal for $100. Rule 1 though is MAKE SURE IT FITS!

(oh, and if the Univega is less than $100, get it too, SunTour Cyclone is a good group and it's also a really great bike to ride too, just that the Schwinn will be a better every-day rider for you over all)

Thanks for the advice! I tried riding the Univega yesterday, and it looks like the Schwinn's gonna be a better fit. I'm going for it!
